Still only the small boxes – but really nice, and unusual, figures.

Very nice but… Too expensive for plastic. And they are taller tan the previous range.

Agree – but might "need" to get the peasants / ninjas anyway.

Totally agreed – Zvezda's "little box" 15mm tanks are cracking value and a real game changer, but 4 figures for the same price is just absurd.

I find some of the Zvezda boxes a good value-I bought the 1/72 pak 37 for under $5 USD, it had 2 crew with it.If its something you only need a few of,theyre well worth it.

These are actually for their game Samurai Battles, and are packaged for that. I don't mind the Ebay prices being an owner of the game, its a Richard Borg command and colours.

I think the approach is great. I would rather pay for four excellent figures than 40 dodgy ones where 75 % of the poses are silly…balancing on one leg while drinking coffee or swinging a rifle around.

People's needs are different though. It would be considerably more expensive to put an army together. I just like good sculpts

If only they'd do some Russian colonials…or boxer rebellion (this format would be perfect for that). Russo-Japanese war maybe.

I might repourpose those peasants as porters on the Ho Chi Minh trail. Nice sculpts all around.

Some of those poses (cavalry) are great. Some (Ashigaru archers) are appalling!

I'm a bit put off by the small numbers of figures per box. Not a good choice.

Samurai with naginata are inappropriate for this period as well. Naginata was out of use by the time firearms arrived. The foot samurai should be equipped with spears.

Still, nice additions to the period.

That's not a description of Zvezda's bigger boxes.

RexMcL, I had the same idea about using the peasant figures for Nam, both the supply set and those with the Ninjas

efredbar08 May 2013 1:24 p.m. PST

That's true Maine. Zvezda has done good job in both formats. These sculpts are better though…and the fewer poses per set leaves room for sets like the ammunition bearers.

Green Tiger09 May 2013 3:27 a.m. PST

Yes the guns are great value but the infantry sets really aren't. Special stuff like the medics are just about worth it if you can be fagged to stick them together.
