Living in Virginia and previously having lived in Maryland, the idea of wargaming the Battle of the Severn (1655) seems like an appealing option for my weekly wargames club meetup. Thinking 15mm ECW figs, the only rules that seem to fit the bill would be File Leader. How are these based? I have read they are six figs to a movement tray, are these mixed bases of pike and shot? Can they be six figures based on a stand (non removable)? Do the rules play quick? I need something for about 2 hours. Any other options? thanks! |

Yes, six infantry figures to a movement tray. You can use fixed bases but you'll need some means of recording losses. Troops of one type only per base. Musketeers are very useful and pikemen less so. The rules are very quick indeed, bloody and great fun to play Not too sure about the battle of the Severn – FL will work nicely for actions which were conducted where the basic unit is a company or troop. Declaration: Yes, I am biased in my opinions. Peter
