Inspired by Pulp Figures Savage Seas range, and Michener, Maughaum, James Jones, Tales of the Gold Monkey, etc. etc. ad nauseam…I am trying to find a suitable figure, with conversion in mind if necessary, for the lovable. yet disgusting and feisty Tonkinese woman, "Bloody Mary" of Michener's and Rogers and Hammerstein's South Pacific.

A bag lady came to mind but I found none in 25/28mm. Any suggestions?

P.S. If Chris Murch can be inspired to make one, I would be in his debt. Islander women needed!

Bob does have a "Dorothy Lamour" figure in one of his sets, maybe you could use it as a base and fatten up the body?

A lot of fat and a little ugly….actually I am using that figure as Liat, her daughter. Great suggestion though.

You probably should look in some of the Zombie/Survivor ranges, they seem to have the widest range of body shapes and sizes. Bob Murch does a 'Fat Man' in his Pulp range, it could be easy to add a skirt over the trousers and a wig, or a head swap with some of the various female figures with a 'Dragon Lady' hairdo.

Tonkinese refers to the Gulf of Tonkin. As in French Indochina. A lot of people from there were laboring on plantations in French Polynesia for similar reasons as the Chinese folks that were building railroads in the United States a generation or two earlier. Bloody Mary would best be represented by someone from one of the numerous Vietnam ranges that have been popping up in the last few years.

Just ask Bob to do one.
He may like the idea.

Thanks for the great advice. I am leaning toward a voodoo priestess conversion until Bob makes one for us.
