Plans are underway for Colonial Barracks III, the Colonial gaming convention featuring TSATF and other rules by Larry Brom. This year we're once again at the Sheraton Metairie/New Orleans but the dates are Nov. 8-9-10, 2013. And we will be implementing the Gunny Awards to honor the Hollywood aspect of TSATF that Larry acknowledged in 1979 when the rules were first published.

Over the years, "Hollywood gaming" has sometimes been looked upon as non-historical and less than serious. But Larry and most TSATF gamers embrace the cinematic qualities of the game and have kept it alive for 30+ years. So we're going to feature TSATF games that owe their scenario to a favorite movie. Stay tuned as we activate the hotel site for reservations and update our site for tickets to 3 days of fantastic Colonial gaming in New Orleans.

You go, Girl!

I wish you could coax our friends Gerry and Carolyn Webb of Castaway Arts, in OZ, to come (though likely having made the trek earlier to HistoriCon, a return trip seems too much).

Some years back he ran a great "Gunga Din" scenario where I got to play "Toad Face," sudden heir to The Guru's… enterprise. And, true to form, though there were several chances that "Good Old Grinnin' Gruntin'" would not blow Assembly until my trap was ready to spring, he sounded off on the first move, and after that it was the Black Watch and Bengal Lancers playing "Bag The Thug."

Still, the wailing cries of "Khali!!!" from all the Thuggee players every time we needed a crucial bone roll warble in my memory. Those cries became louder and bit more desperate as it became apparent that Khali was not "picking up" that day. Indeed, we became something of an irritant to the rest of the convention in the next room, though they sometimes echoed our cry back at us!

Great fun, great game, great slaughter of Thugs. Would love to see it again.

Gerry, if you're reading this, any ideas…?

Of course my question will be …'how much Colonial stuff to bring to the show. I can get several new companies now in both 28mm Colonials and 15mm French Foreign Legion.

Not only can I get plastic Zulus both also plastic Fuzzy Wuzzies.

In addition to a lot of terrain in both scales.
