A couple of the support systems that came with the Riptide are new and I don't know what they are. Neither the new Tau codex, White Dwarf, nor the instructions in the kit tells you what they are other than 'support systems' (duh!). A major oversight by GW. Does anyone know? Below are pics of these mysterious support systems:
At first I thought this is "stim injector," but one of the codex pics showed a Riptide with two of these. Why would a Riptide need two injectors for 70 points?
I don't even want to take a guess on this one. |

Maybe the bottom one is a searchlight

I thought they always kept the names of the parts vague so that you can say what it was. |

Battlesuits don't have searchlights. Are there any support systems that can be taken in doubles? I didn't think there was, but if there's an image of a suit with two of them that might help narrow it down. To me they look like the velocity tracker or one of the other targeting-type systems, but I'm just randomly guessing. |

Hmmm I am going to build the Riptide I got for my birthday soon, so I will crack open the brand new Tau codex I also got for my birthday and see what I can puzzle out |

There is some discussion on other forums about the same issue. They believe GW removed the names of the support systems to avoid wysiwyg problems. |

In the Codex, the Riptide is allowed to have two selections from the "Support Systems" list. The box-with-antenna could be used as a drone controller, a Stim Injector, the Velocity Tracker or part of the Advanced Targeting System. The "speaker" -- which also resembles a radar dish, IMHO, could be used for the point defense sensor, the advanced warning system, or, again, part of the Advanced Targeting System. I suspect that GW kept the pieces vague enough to serve as several different items. |

Thanks for the inputs. I like the 'multi-call-it-what-you-want' method. In the previous codex, they were very specific on what the support systems are. A multi-tracker looks different from a target lock, for example. |
