Who does 15mm Old West/Pony Wars ranges? I know Minifigs, Peter Pig and I think Blue Moon does them as well. I know of one other but can't think of the name of the company now – I think it's a UK firm that does a lot of buildings as well as a few lines of historicals.

I did my collection more than 15 years ago and the options were much more limited then than they are now with the arrival of Blue Moon 15mm/18mm figures which are very nice. I used Indians from Stone Mountain Miniatures, Minifigs, and Yellow Ribbon. My cavalry was composed of Essex and Old Glory Civil War figures. I'm sure that if I was doing this now I would use the Blue Moon as the core of my collection and add other figures based on their interest value. For example, if you can get the Minifig mounted Plains Indians, I really urge you to pick them up. I think they are some of the nicest 15s out there (if they are still out there). I also love the Yellow Ribbon mounted Apache figures that are hanging off the side of the horse and firing under the horses' heads. With limited modification (a new head), they can be made into nice Plains Indians. You can see an example of the modified Apaches in pics 21 and 23 of my Little Big Horn Gallery; the gallery is posted at link

Frontier, I just talked to the new owner recently about ranges they were going to re-produce.

Minifigs is another company.

A new owner for Frontier?? Any idea what lines are coming and when?

Rudysnelson05 May 2013 8:21 a.m. PST

No, there is still a certain amount of uncertainty.

I really liked the various tribal heads for the Plains tribes which could be used to convert the casting.

QRF are good and a reasonably complete range. A few moreCows would have been nice. But Peter Pig can oblige. I have them and like them.

Very good news about Frontier.

Minifigs Plains Indians are still readily available, now owned by Caliver Books. Some of their nicest sculpts I think, and readily compatible with Peter Pig, Hovels and Blue Moon.

I just got through examining some of the Blue Moon manufacturing Plains war items. It has to be noted that they have a great assortment of support packs such as townspeople and saloon items in 15mm. They also have several pirces for an Old West town.
In regard to the castings it is hard not to love the 6 mounted personalities 3 each side) for only $7.00 USD.

based on the wide assortment of companies, a lot may depend on whether you live in the USA or UK. I have stocked QRF items and they are easy to work with. As i have mentioned I have stock a lot of products from different companies. In regards to Peter Pig, you should check with Brookhurst in Calif.

I have found it easier to deal directly with Peter Pig, they will customize packs for you, and the service is great

Thanks for the information, everyone. It is a tough decision – not sure I'm at a point where I can jump into a new scale/genre at this point anyway, but after playing a plains war game using Pete Panzeri's rules, I had to pull out Yellow Ribbon and, of course, got bit by the bug all over again.
