Hi,
With my return to wargaming I've been purchasing bought figures to get a basic army in place but now is the time for me to get started painting on my own. It is part of the hobby after. All!
Are there any good YouTube videos or guides elsewhere that would give me a step by step process rather than learning by mistake.

Search 'Miniature Painting Tutorial for Beginners' in YouTube and you should get several hits: YouTube link

There is a good video for beginners out there called "The Wizard's Workshop'. Its a really good place to start.
All of the basics are covered.

word of advise, actually 2 words of advice. 1. do n ot try to put too much detail into your figs (depending on scale) and 2. its not where you place the paint, its where you DONT place the paint. when in doubt leave it out…..of course Im over 50 and cant see a door thru a catchers mask.
