It just popped into my mind. How would you game it, what did they look like, and who makes suitable figures in 28mm? Will this be the next Big Thing in miniatures, replacing zombies? |

I believe a helicopter is a must

I would stop the game before the chopper enters :) I guess the first part of the movie can provide some inspiration I think Alamo and Old West miniatures would be suitable if the weaponry is carefully selected. Artizan and Foundry is a good start |

Didn't Foundry used to make a Filibuster pack? |

Just checked and they still make two "Filibuster" packs. |

"I believe a helicopter is a must
.." And fancy wrist-watches, perhaps a cellphone or two
Man, that movie started out OK and went downhill fast. |

Oh come on how can you beat moive lines like this Yrena: You were very good last night. Not great, but for a gringo good enough. :) |

The armed civilians from Empress' New Zealand Wars would be perfect, as would some of the well-armed types from Brigade Games Victorian/GoNY range. With the aforementioned Foundry types (don't forget their Border Ruffians and Jayhawkers!) and some Alamo Texicans, you could have a nice force of Filibusters with no two figures the same. Haven't a clue what you would use for local allies or the opposition, however. |

John send me an email and I will send you my article on Walker which also describes the uniforms and battles. I did a series of Articles on Walker, Lopez (Cuba) and other filibuster attempts in the pre-1860 1800s, |

There's a very nice restaurant in Granada, Niacaragua, where they display a wall where Walker was shot by a firing squad, unsuccessfully. He got away after they'd fired a volley. Memo. Always get decent marksmen for your firing squad, and give them effective weapons. |

I believe Brigade Games has a pack of specifically Nicaraguan Filibusteros. I'll see if I can find it. Found 'em, but they are called 'Sandanistas with Machetes' so my memory is faulty. link |

Memo. Always get decent marksmen for your firing squad, and give them effective weapons. It helps if you restrain the target too. Even blindfolded with hands bound would have worked. |

Very interesting article, Rudy. It seems like back in the Earlies, all the Cool Kids were doing it! |

I found this statue of Juan Santamaria, a Costa Rican hero against Walker. He seems to be wearing a kepi and a long shirt. Perhaps Garibaldi red shirts would be appropriate. link I'm tempted to simply use my Foundry Wild West Mexicans. Since they are painted and I can play with them now. For the Filibusters, don't forget the armed European Shanghai civilians from the Foundry Taiping Range |
