'Restored' is probably a bit strong. It's never going to look like a museum-perfect display aeroplane. What's left of it will salvaged and stabilised from further corrosion, much like the Halifax in the RAF Museum's collection.

If the preservation of the Halifax is anything to go by, the Dornier is going to be a long time being conserved to prevent further deterioration. The Halifax after all came out of a fresh water lake as I remember back in 1973. I look forward to the day when the Dornier is available for public viewing. However being immersed in a salt water environment for so long, I just hope the structure is sound enough to withstand the stresses of being lifted despite the cradle that it will be supported in. |

I will be immensely surprised if there's enough of the bird left to survive getting removed from the salt water. |
