Bit of an update for my Napoleonic and revolutionary wars royal navy fleet. I've mostly been painting 74'S so rather than just post lots of the same ship I thought id show the whole fleet as it currently stands. As well as 74's I've also been painting some gun boats (yes you can get them in 1:2400), ships boats, floating batteries, a Martello tower and a light house. The ships and boats are all Tumbling dice the light house and Martello tower are from Figure head. The small boats and defences are all going to be featuring in my blockade campaign.

Very nice. How do you do the water on the table?

Ben Walton02 May 2013 10:57 a.m. PST

Thanks I've been meaning to write a how to for the sea board for a very long time now….

Basically stippled glue and paint mix (I use copydex it's nice and thick) painted with gloss tile paint then washed with black then a good dry brush.

Ben Walton02 May 2013 11:49 a.m. PST

Looks very nice.

I ran a similar game, years ago, in 1/2000th scale, and it was a fun scenario.

Your terrain looks far better though.

Great stuff and I love seeing 1/2400 displayed that way.

Beautiful Ben! Truly! Finally the secret of your sea! Although It would be nice to have more detail. What are you using for the base? Your island terrain is really nice. Are they carved styrofoam? It all looks great together.

Vol

Ben, what do you use to carve the foam with, a hot knife? The cliff faces look really good.

Ben Walton07 May 2013 5:36 a.m. PST

Hi Vol

Thanks, I just use a normal craft knife and sort of hack at it, seams to wourk ok

devsdoc07 May 2013 12:27 p.m. PST

I have a Stanley Knife (Box knife in USA)which has a long saw like blade. I saw away, making a mess all around but end up with a cliff.
