I'm going to be doing a alt history/weird science Roman game at Historicon, set in the Year of the Four Emperors. Part of the battle will take place in the city of Rome itself. The board will not have much in the way of fantastical elements. I've posted some pictures on my blog: link |

Thanks for the kind words. But OK, where can I get a Pseudolus/Zero Mostel figure. It would fit in perfect with the tone I have in mind for this game. There's already going to be Nigerapis (Black Adder) and Balteus (Baldrick), Pullo and Vorenus, and Rheomitalces the Ruritani |

Great work and a fantastic sight. What did you use to build structures from? |

Thanks. Most are scratch built from scrap beaded styrofoam or foamboard. There are a couple of buildings from the Game Craft middle eastern foamboard and MDF line that I modified a bit. There is one small temple to the right of the Capitoline Hill in the picture that is a resin model I bought – I forget the manufacturer. The statuary are just plastic figures of various scales. The columns are dowl rods or plastic cake decorations. The cobblestone sections are embossed felt I picked up at a craft store for around $2 USD a piece. Oh, Falco and his mom would be a formidible team. |

Wow, I remember seeing that illustration of the ox-driven "land ship;" a VERY long-when ago!! Nice model!! Dang-it. Might try REALLY hard this year to make it to Historicon!! May have to emulate your land-ship!! |

Only made it to H-Con Friday, but it happened this game was played last night only a few tables from where I was kibbitzing my son as a Prussian commander @ Dresden (1813). I excussed myself in a lull and ran over to gawk @ the marvelous terrain and wierd science devices on this table. I was only able to sneak away from Dresden once later on, and the participants seemed to really be enjoying the action in this game!! Apparently there were some twists n' turns
. I'd love to know how n' why the steam-powered Trojan Horse changed sides!!! I wonder if the game will be back next year?? Inquiring minds want to know!! |

Thanks, CIN. I am hoping to run the game again at Fall In or Cold Wars. I have a different production in mind for H-con 2014. As for the Trojan Horse changing sides, the Flavian Commander had a special rule that allowed him to try to flip one enemy unit during the game. He picked the Horse and got lucky while the Vitellian player was unlucky in their dice rolls. I may have to put some restrictions on that special rule in the future. |
