Nice looking game and table! I'm curious. How long did the game last? What rules? Thanks, John |

Game lasted about 2.5 hours but we had to break just as things got interesting. Basically the Russians trying to contain three German bridgeheads, then a German armored spearhead enters on the same side of the river from the west to relieve pressure on the spearheads. The rules are Bruce W.'s homegrown set, he's demo'ed them at a number of conventions. We'll have to continue at a later date
the gaming time available weekday nights really isn't long enough to finish a reasonable game. |

tuscaloosa: A beautiful board and a very interesting game write-up. I could not help but think that the Russian steppe looked especially verdant and lush and the buildings looked suspiciously central European. Is this perhaps an elaborate German propaganda exercise staged in 1943 Bavaria for the benefit of morale at home? Was this game photographed by Leni Riefenstahl and was the text written by the evil Dr. Goebbels? Come, come good sir! Fess up! Rod Robertson :) |

Very nice looking. Is there a write-up of the scenario anywhere? |

A very savvy guess, Rod! The terrain actually IS lower Bavaria, depicting the terrain around Uettingen (just west of Wurzburg). It was created for a game I'll run at Historicon and COLOURS: the 26 July 1866 battle of Rossbrunn, between Prussia and Bavaria. But in the meantime, it's a shame to let a perfectly good battlefield lie fallow, so a bit of topographical and historical digging located a piece of passably similar terrain in eastern Ukraine, and a battle to match ("Totenkopf's" beleaguered bridgeheads at Kolontajev and Oleinikov). There's no way to disguise those Bavarian towns as Ukrainian villages, though, so we just pretend :-) Bruce PS – Hi Marc! You going to get up to H'con? |

Hi Bruce, thought that looked like your work. Stunning as always. Yes, reservations at the Homewood Suites and all set. Hopefully the WW II rules will be ready for prime time then as well. Marc |
