Finally taking the plunge into the age of sail. This will allow me to make a campaign game where you are a Naval Officer. I will probably do one where you are a Pirate as well. These will not be RPG heavy but wargame heavy with just enough RPG flavor to give interesting backgrounds to your sea and land battles. My first scenario is found here

Thanks to everyone who has answered my questions up till now

Enjoy

Sounds like an excellent TFL game.

Looks like a fun game. I checked yor site and enjoyed the report on Salute 2013. I was also interested in your comments on the Sails of Glory game you watched. I subscribe to the Sails of Glory – Anchorage forum. Folks there have been going bonkers since the Ares SOG kickstarter began. From what I've seen I just can't get excited abou it. As you reported the ships are plastic toys and ship movement is slow. I prefer more solid and accurate ships and settled on KMH rules for ease and quickness of play with a minimum of calculations and paperwork. I look forward to your developing CP or ISotK. And your fixes for Beat to Quarters.

Vol

Thank you both for your comments. Am still working on shooting at sails for BtQ. I am using the strike rules from KMH as I like them better.
As I stated, a little disappointed in Sails of Glory. Will wait and see the finished product- maybe I will be surprised.
I have just posted a new update and playtest from ITSOK. I suspect it will be published by TFL.

Read it and it sound like fun. On descriptions of the officers, what does (family) signify? They are nobility?

Joe Legan09 May 2013 1:20 p.m. PST

Vol,

Sorry not to explain that. I have two other games published; WW II land (Platoon Forward) and WW II air ( Squadron Forward) and many parts of ITSOK will be similar. You "roll up"parts of your character to include their basic personality and what is really important in their life. You also roll to see breeding, and if they posess any special skills such as swordplay, gunnery or navigation. The shorthand across all these games is personality/importance) So if Master Price is (agressive/family) that means you should play him as an aggressive chap who really puts his family first. Lt Dawson is cheap/family so he is a tightwad who loves his family. The Lt in the first scenario was "fanatic/governemt". He is for King and Country no matter what! It is a simple way to breath a little life into your characters on the tabletop.
Great question!

Joe
