Just finished this 450 or so page book and found the stories very interesting and lots of skirmish potential gaming. It is quite intense in parts, as graphic via the written word as Saving Private Ryan was visually. Although it starts out on the preparation for D-Day and the landing it also follows some of the participants through the end of the war. Really a grim tale in many parts and I was not aware of some of the barbaric actions on the part of the Germans against the airborne forces. I was not surprised to read the casualty rate among the 82nd was something along the lines of 52%.

Highly recommended.

Although I have to say the news broadcast "Richard Dimbleby At Belsen 19.4.1945" is a hard listen.

I picked this book and his Bulge book in hardback for a penny and 44 cents. Shipping was 8 bucks total. Not too bad.

Thanks for the heads up!

John
