I am still waiting on my copy. I am near Washington DC. Just wondering. I got my shipping email about ten days ago. Thanks. Matthew |

Waiting as well in Crofton, MD. But I wouldn't really expect it before the end of the week, I tend to see fairly long waits coming from overseas

True. I was just hoping. Other orders I have had from the UK have only taken 5-7 business days. This is the first set of rules I am getting that I already have lots of 20mm figures for. My game table has been cleared for action. Matthew |

I hear you! I have been coming home from work hoping to see that package at the front door and have been deflated each time! |

That is what I have been doing too. Here's to getting home today and both of us having the rules waiting for us. Matthew |

All the pre-orders went out last week (monday and tuesday)
Watch those mailboxes

I am watching. That must be the problem. Sort of like watching a pot of water boil. :-) Matthew |

I too am waiting, and I am on the Left Coast so could be a while. Where these shipped out via air mail or surface mail? It sucked, I was in the pre-order for BGK. It was sent via surface mail, but all the game stores got theirs sent via air mail so my local store had a copy for sail 3 weeks before I got my pre-order copy. I hope that isn't the case this time, especially as I would like to run a game at a local con in a couple weeks. The above is just a minor grip, the BGK are great production value and I anticipate the same for BGO. Chris |

As far as I know Chris, and PSC handle distribution for Ironfist, the BGO pre-orders were to go air mail to avoid the slowness of Kursk! I will follow up with PSC tomorrow if you want. |

Our gaming group has been using KGC II for the past few years (vehicle = platoon). Our local wargame convention (biannual) has a big turnout for FOW tourneys and a couple of Bolt Action games usually. At last weekend's convention several WWII gamers I visited with expressed interest in an alternative to FOW and the competition tourneys. I mentioned BGK and BGO (been reading a lot on the Guild about them). Looks like if I splurge and buy the rules that we have at least five people willing to give them a go in our next convention (September). 45th: Given that you are in the U.S., may I ask what convinced you to give them a try? Buying both BGK and BGO (with overseas shipping) is not a "spur of the moment" decision (especially since I would have to "digest" them in time as well). The UK/European gamer AARs of the system tend to reflect gamers that had a good time and are satisfied with the system. |

Long story there. I missed out on KGN. When I found out about BGK I started to look into the reviews. Everything I read was good. The only problem is my set up is for Normandy and Market Garden. I read folks talking about a Normandy version. As soon as I saw the mini rule book was also being released, I made my mind up to purchase them. So, not too much money spent since this is my first purchase of these rules. Another thing that convinced me was the author. I have his WW2 rules where he uses 54mm figures in three poses to pit a squad vs a squad. I'm not near my game room and I forget the title of the rules. But they were very well laid out and the concept of how he handled the combat roll to determine hit, location and severity with out having to roll dice over and over, and no pages of charts to cross reference was very well thought out. Now, I know that these rules will not be the same, but the author is. And it is that author's ideas that I am interested in with regards to these rules. The last set of WW2 rules that I have played was Battle Ground WW2. Has to be over 14 years ago. They were okay but a bit cumbersome. Had a look at Bolt Action. Interesting, but have not had anyone to game with. The other factor is the production value of the book. I enjoy the eye candy, I freely admit that. But a lot of good things have been said about the production value of the book, so feel there will be value for my money. So there you have it. I am very much looking forward to seeing these rules in person. And I hope to game these soon. Just have to find some players. Matthew |

Wow, who asked that guy to write a novel on why he bought a book? :-) |
| Lest We Forget | 01 May 2013 6:10 p.m. PST |
Thanks for the info. Once you get it and give a whirl maybe you can write a second novel reviewing it! :) |

So mine did in fact arrive yesterday! Worth the wait. My reasons to pick up BGO were some what similar. My group had gamed with TW&T, Face of Battle, and a hand full of others. We wanted something that used points for pick up games and I just never was sold on FOW. I am not basing it, it just never caught my fancy. I was combing the web and saw Piers' review of FGN and so decided to give it a try. We found it mostly fit the bill and added a whole new scope to our gaming, now there was a point to softskins and extras like aid-stations. That said, there were some areas in KGN that felt underdeveloped and there was no list for US Airborne, a big favorite of mine. So when Warwick announced the BG series I decided to follow it. I picked up BGK and have a ton of unpainted Soviets next to my gaming table but was really waiting for BGO. Going to play at a buddy's house on Friday so I'll let you know what I think after playing it but I really like the evolution from KGN. Seems a much better thought out game with just a little more chrome for my tastes. I also like the quaility of the books. I don't mind forking out similiar costs for the history books I buy, particularly the glossy photo ones, so the cost doesn't really rock me. Matthew: we should try and get together and game some time, we probably live within 45 min of each other. |

Hi Andrew. We should do that. I have a game room with a 6x12 foot table. I have 20mm British and German troops at the moment. Our group plays once a month. May 18 is our next game. I will have to see if they would be interested in playing WW2. Maybe my copy of the rules will be at the house today. If anyone wants to try out the rules send me an email and I will see what I can set up. andersintl At AOL Matthew |

Matthew, your set up sounds, well, tear worthy. I have a small house and have to put my meagre 4x6 board away all the time, last game of anything I had was about 2 months ago. I aspire to one day have something akin to your set up, well done on having Brits too, there's so many German and US mains with a small side salad of Brits out there, enjoy! Ark |
| HarnessBlue | 02 May 2013 8:45 a.m. PST |
I'm impressed to! I have a 6x6 but want to adjust it to 8x5 (will fit the basement better). I have 20mm US Armored (2AD Normandy camo), US Airborne (82nd A/B), US Infantry (29 ID), German Armored (PL), Fallschrimjaeger, Infantry, and SS. Have a platoon+ of Brit Airborne but they are in the unpainted pile. :-) I also am starting some 1/35 US and Germans for Normandy Firefight and will probably make a dedicated 4x4 table for it if I can figure out how to store it. |

Thanks Duncan and Andrew, I took me years to have my own game room and I know not a lot of folks have the space to game. I like hosting games so it was a priority when house hunting. I remember starting out with a 4 x 6 piece of plywood in the back yard. Not always a good place to game if the wind is really blowing. In 1988-89 I lived in London and used my bed to game on. Yea, it was a hard mattress. :-) That was in my early 40K days of gaming. It never occurred to me to look for historical gamers at the time. I wish I had found a club or two back then. I like the British uniforms and infantry equipment a lot. I got my 20mm figures in 1990. I think the line changed hands several times, but I recall a red top to the bag with "Combat" on it. I stumbled upon my FAA figures the other day. And I want to say SHQ as well, but I think that might not be the correct name. I have not purchased any 20mm WW2 in over 15 years. I have Americans too, just not painted. Normandy Firefight. That is the name of the rules I was mentioning in the post above. I was really impressed about the way combat is handled and the position of your figure (standing, kneeling or prone) making a difference in combat. I have some 60mm and 1/6th scale WW2 that I thought would work well for those rules. One thing about a large table is that is becomes a magnet for "stuff." It is in the path to the garage so stuff gets set down on it all the time. It's a constant battle for me to keep the room and table in good order. Hosting the games helps. Andrew, I hope we can get a game in some time soon. Duncan, if you are ever over on this side of the pond, you are welcome to stay with us and game a bit while you see the sites. My wife and I enjoy guests and our house seems to be a B&B at times. My furthest guest came from Hong Kong. Matthew |

Well no rules in the post today either. (Sad) On a happy note, my friend and I were standing in my driveway at 5:00 (EST) when I heard an interesting aircraft sound overhead and behind us. I looked up and see a P-51 fly over us. I said, "That's a P-51!" My friend said at the same time, "That plane has D-Day markings!" That plane lives 30 miles south of me. It has never flown over my house in the 17 years I have been here. It was a great day to fly. I just wish an ME-109 had flown by as well. That would have been cool too. I have seen the plane a the airport a few times but it has always had the weather covers over it. So a good evening, even if I didn't get the rules in the mail. |

Well, I ordered BGK today. I'll probably get BGO soon. I visited with a couple of local WWII gamers and it seems that we are going to plant a weed in the FOW garden around these parts. I've got to learn how to read "English" English again I suppose. Colour me wild. |

Matthew, very generous of you sir. Ive not been stateside for 3 years (was in NY, had a ball!) I'll admit I struggle to get a game in with my mate and he's only 3m away, but if things are favourable I'll come a knocking. I will only play if I am allowed to win of course, so better be nice to me :) Let us know how yer gaming goes with BGK too, laters! |

I pre-ordered mine from On Military Matters
not sure when I'll get my copy :( As of yesterday, the website still says "Early May Release"
granted, it's REALLY early May, so I'm not anticipating it coming this week or next week really. |

Received my copy on Saturday the 11th in CO, USA. Mini rulebook is nice and convenient, and BGO is a beast. The US infantry sprue looks great and should fit in well with my AB Figures. The one thing I would like PSC to do in the future is bubble wrap the books, as this is the second time I've had the corners of the hardbacks bent during shipping, and it is a bit of a disappointment considering the book's quality and price point. That said, I look forward to trying out the new rules and army lists soon. ~iPaint |
