If anyone happens to be in Northern Virginia this weekend, there will be a reenactment of the Battle of Chancellorsville down in Spottsylvania. I know of at least two TMPers who will be there (one being yours truly)

William Britains will have thier ACW toy soldier collection thier also. According to Britains management:
Hi All:

"Just a reminder we will be at the Chancellorsville Visitor Center the weekend of May 4/5 for the 150th Anniversary commemoration events there. A reenactment will also be taking place in the area. Ken will be on hand to talk about sculpting, we'll have a table of free kids toy soldier painting, some custom Hudson & Allen dioramas of Chencellorsville on display as well as a few new figures. A few sets of "The Last Meeting" and Hooker have been specially flown in early the for the event. It promises to be a fun weekend for all.

On the road with W. Britain.

I am commanding the 28th Mass, Company B. We have 24 lads signed up. Looking forward to seeing you all. GuyG13 – you may kick our Bleeped text this weekend, but I look forward to seeing you all at Gettysburg!

Two nights in a dog tent, ample drill and battle scenarios. Followed by a one hour drive home and cold beer.

Outstanding. I was once a member of the 1st Md US. That was some years ago.
Bill Wilson was a good man.
Have fun.

Flak Bait, very cool! You must have run with Ozzy and Victor. I have been in the unit for 15 years. Bill is still greatly missed. I have his pistol and his forage hat hanging over the computer desk I'm siting at. You should have seen the day I brought my 10mm ironclads to Ft McHenry and Bill was on the floor playing.

SFC Retired, are you going to Fort Delaware in June? If so, I will see you there.

off to buy the unit rations (I'm the cook at Chancellorsville)…

Yep Vivtor and Ozzy and others. Bill too. Trying to remember the last time I had the blue on. To old and slow now.
You know SFC Retired? I game with him.

Well, I'm tired, and a little sore. I pulled a muscle in my right shoulder during the Sunday AM battle.

The drive down wasn't bad, but not wanting to repeat the experience of sitting on I-95, I went back to PA via RT 17 and RT 15.

Not a bad event. First big ACW event I've ever been to. Much different than how we do AWI. Good times, though.

Pleasure to meet the lads from Compy H, 28th Mass, who were camped next to us.

I'm back and going to work. Fortunately I had both a hot shower and a cold beer available upon my return.

We had a Belgian Lt. Col. fall in with us for the weekend. He had such a great time he is signing up for Gettysburg.

EJNashIII07 May 2013 5:10 a.m. PST

A bit different from the average event. The old timers said it felt more like a 1980's event, a county fair with a reenactment as the headline show. My only complaint was how far the Union camps were from the sutlers and the battlefield area was way too small for the number of soldiers that were there.

Flak Bait, too old? :-) John Hooper of the 7th PA was in camp. He was at the 100th Anniversary! We joke that we has at the actual battle.

vonLoudon11 May 2013 6:03 a.m. PST

I wasn't there.
