Recently posted to my blog on my attempt to use modeling clay and other assorted materials to make the first of a series of terrain boards.

I like using modeling clay as it allows me to change things….I'm always changing things on my stuff.

While the clay is pretty soft while I'm working it, it sets up and stays pretty firm once left alone. The temperature in my basement where I play is around 70 degrees, cool enough to not worry too much about it being soft.

In the past, I have mainly used modeling clay to make berms, trenches, foxholes.

I have used all colors as they tend to hold the paint well.

RudyNelson: Took your observation and applied it to my terrain. I have always been dissatisfied with the color of my clay. I could never get the blend right. I got home from work and painted the clay. It blended everything together and brought out details, like my bridge and rock formations, that really weren't visible before. Thank you.

Here is a pic of the painted clay:

Thanks again.
