It shouldn't be too hard to make a knock – off (or a waterline model for miniatures gaming). It's obviously not a direct replica of any full-sized vessel, but I still like it.

What the heck is a folk art model?

What an annoying site, if you don't register you can't even see the price.

But I agree good photo references to scratch build your own

Generally "folk art model" means a model built from scratch and only vaguely resembles the original.Think tin airplanes and cars you see in Hobby Lobby. In the case of the U-9 model it looks nothing like the U-9 submarine.

Not that folk art is mutually exclusive of gaming. I have a trawler from Hobby Lobby that works well in 28mm.
