As you all know, the HAWKs are feverishly working on their annual Armies for Kids project. And since the guys are coming down to Nashcon next month to run a bunch of games for us, while they're here we at HMGS – MidSouth would like to show our support for their worthwhile endeavor.
To that end, we're asking all you gamers planning to attend Nashcon to reach into your hearts
..and storage boxes and pockets
..and come up with items to bring along to donate to the cause! We'll gather up all the donations at the show, organize them, box them up and make sure they get delivered to the HAWKs so they can put them to good use!
If you'd like to help out, the following is a list of items the HAWKs need to complete their current project and to add to donations they've received to use for future projects:
25mm Napoleonic Figures (for current project):
7 French mounted officers
5 French cannon and crew
212 French infantry
24 French cavalry
2 Bavarian mounted officers
6 Prussian mounted officers
16 British infantry
8 British cavalry
1 British cannon and crew
1 British mounted officer
32 Russian infantry
1 Russian cannon and crew
Miscellaneous Items (for every project):
Dice
Small terrain features
Tape Measures
Monetary donations to cover postage, supplies, etc.
Miscellaneous Figures (to complete future projects):
20mm AWI & SYW
15/18mm ACW, FPW & Napoleonics
And if you don't have anything from the list, but still want to help, you can donate your time and skill by volunteering to paint figures for the project. You don't have to be a professional painter, either. The guys say they're just looking for a good, basic, wargaming grade paint-job that will be appreciated by 10 year olds. If this is something you'd like to sign up for, just see any of the Convention staff at Nashcon and they'll put you in touch with the proper folks.
So, if you have any old figures, terrain pieces, etc. just lying around collecting dust, why not let the HAWKs use them to lay the groundwork for the development of our hobby's future. Gather up your items, bring them to Nashcon and we'll do the rest. Just let the folks at the registration desk now you have donations when you sign-in. You'll feel good about yourself and your generosity will be much appreciated!
