Yeah, Charles Russell pretty much is the go-to artist if you are painting old west figures. I used to live in Montana and was exposed to his work there. What is particularly remarkable about him is his paintings of native Americans – they were very sympathetic to the Indians at a time when most art depicted them as hostile savages. The attention to detail in his paintings is simply amazing.
