1/72 is the cheapest scale I can find. As a 6mm gamer
.. that says a lot. I have found hat Germans which look good. Any others? Any Germanic cavalry in this scale? Let me know. |

Caesar Miniatures ancient Germans are good. Miniart makes later 3rd-4th Century Germans that are also nice and have a few horsemen. |

I actually like the Strelet's Germans. They look barbaric. I'll second that. They are fully clothed 2nd/3rd century Germans. No naked "crazies" in the lot! |

I don't understand the naked models
. honestly. Were there ever any accounts of naked Germans? |

I am painting streets Germans right now and they look nice. Awaiting the mini arts Germans. Agree on the over emphasis on starters in some ones. |

There is evidence of Germans fighting nude from Tacitus (IIRC) and from Roman tombstones in Germany. Like the Gauls the Early Germans probably believed that nudity gave them magical protection and on a practical basis you don't have clothing to get caught up. Ancient peoples did not have the same problem with public nudity that later religions based upon Judaic teachings have. |

There is evidence of Germans fighting nude from Tacitus (IIRC) and from Roman tombstones in Germany. Some historians argue that this behavior (and other barbaric behavior for that matter) is stereo-typing that has been perpetuated through out history. It does get cold in Germannia so magic or no magic, I doubt that the Warriors would be all that accustomed to shedding their cloths! |

Who asked this joker is correct. Many historians are coming round to seeing this as typical stereo-typing by the Romans. Hopefully, I will be able to shed more light on these chaps soon ;) |

I have read that it may be a translation issue. Naked may mean 'without armour' rather than 'without clothes'! |

The Esci Barbarians set has some suitable Germans amongst a fairly generic crowd. Some have more clothes than others. |
