Working on my Napoleonic's change over to ACW is a interesting wakeup. The Russians as Confederates was a good call in many ways. They need all the 12pdrs they can get and I have 8 12 gun batteries plus one for their Bavarian Allies. Also the divisions of the two need little tweaking a lot have exactly the same manpower to figure ratio. I also do have more than enough figures, guns and commanders. The Prussians as Union has been harder. First I have Regiments bigger than small Union Divisions. I'm going to be short a few guns but probably not going to be noticed if spread the missing around. I am short Commanders stretching 3 Corps into 7 and 14 Divisions into 19. One other interesting thing is I have Gen Scharnhorst to step in for Gen Reynolds, wonder if he will get killed as well?

I would think that the French army would be a more suitable substitute for the CSA as both have similar aggressive personalities , famous generals and dashing cavalry commanders. Russians would be about the last army that would come to mind. I could see the Russians standing in for the Union.

I agree with Der Alte Fritz.

I don't own a Frenchmen, only thousands of Prussians, Russians, British/Hanoverians and Bavarians. I originally was going to swap them.

Exactly, how many thousands of figures do you have? What rules do you use? I can see the Prussians being used for the CSA, since they are the most aggresive army that you have. I could see the Russians or the British being used for the Union. The Bavarians would also be aggresive, but it depends of how many of them you have.

Didn't you say that they are Minifig 2nd gen? I would be interested in buying some of them.

I feel like I came in in the middle of this discussion. Where's the first part?

Well,

I want to do maybe the whole shebang but using Napoleonic troops, Napoleonic Rules, Gettysburg OOB, Gettysburg terrain. (It's all I got but love ACW)

4,600 figures about 3/4 of Prussians and maybe 1/2 of my Russians are Minifig 2's. Still play Empire III that's why I have Minifig 2's. Wish I could get Prussian 10pdrs in Minifig's without paying a arm and leg since that's the one tem I never saw.

I have often thought of not painting French and game with basic solid color other nations as much as possible to save painting all the gory details and my sanity. No I just buy painted figures. See I'm all better.

With the Waterloo Napoleon as Lee and Ney as Longstreet!

We have played G'burg a couple of times as AWI or SYW. But you have given me food for thought – doing a series of ACW re-fights using Napoleonics.

French would have to equal CSA.

What I don't get is he owns '000 of figures, but not anyone for them to fight! That's like doing Normandy without the Germans!

The short story of it is I started building Prussians and Russians at a time someone else had Frenchmen. Then madness took over when I thought I could build the whole Prussian Army at 60=1, with breaks building Russians. Well just because the Prussians are done (or so I thought) The Russian army of Borodino at 60=1 must be achievable (with breaks building Wallmoden's force.
