Howdie.

We finally managed to get a game in, using 1:3000 NavWar PLAN and USN ships… still a little rough on the rules, but this seems to be an easy to use system so far.

Thanks.

Sounds like fun, at least until the missiles start impacting, comrade.

"With the Luda dead in the water waiting to sink, and the Jiangwei already sunk, and no damage to the USN, we decided to call it a "marginal" USN victory :)".

What, not a marginal, or at least tactical "victory" to the Chinese, for demonstrating to the world how those sneaky, American capitalists (oh wait, maybe that's backwards) attacked an innocent, Chinese naval force, in an unprovoked manner?

Must work on your over the top, and purposefully misleading rhetoric a bit, for the all important, after action reports to the world, in order to put diplomatic pressure on you enemy, since you can't hope to win a straight up fight.

Appears to be a decent, and expected, "historical" result.

Thanks for posting this.
Haven't played Shipwreck yet, so I enjoy learning about the game by reports like yours.

Thanks, Ivan. May I ask where you got the PLAN ship stats? I've been unable to find up to date ones, even on the Yahoo Group page.

Howdie.

TG: the PLAN ships are on the Vandering site, under downloads, listed as China. You hit "c" and then they show up.

Not sure if this link will work right (and you probably have to be in Explorer, not Firefox)…

Mako: Yeah, we both knew going in this was not close to being a fair fight, its just a starting game. Scenarios are the only way the Chinese can realistically win engagements agasint current USN…. and that does include politically based scenarios. I have seen some nifty examples of this… not being able to engage until engaged, "lines of death", and hostiles mixed with neutrals… there are plenty of options to make it more challenging for both players, once we are a bit more solid on the mechanics.

I will work on my propaganda… er news reporting.

Good stuff.

And yes, the Vandering website seems to like Internet Explorer the best.

Those models are surprisingly detailed. Thanks for the battle report.
