What suggestions do people have for WWII aircraft produced by Shapeways? |

I purchased a couple of WW-I aircraft, to see if I liked the quality. The level of detail is acceptable, for me, but your requirements may vary. I'd suggest picking two models you perhaps cannot find elsewhere (what I did), and order one of each, as a trial, to see if they meet your needs. Prices vary, quite a bit, depending upon the plane model, and scale. I ordered one of the largest bombers, an Ilya Muromets (max. crew of 12), mostly because I wanted that behemoth for games, but also because no one else made a model of it: the Shapeways model is only a few grams in weight, and a metal model would weigh around 100x more! I paid around $18 USD for a 1/144 scale model of the Muromets, and around $11 USD(?) for a two-seater fighter (German fighter with four MG's in the Observer's floor, aimed 45 degrees down, purpose-built for strafing trenches
). I am very satisfied with both models' quality, but particularly with their weight: we use 3/16" dowels mounted to a square base, and then we clip the models to the dowel with wire, and an alligator clip, which allows us to bank, and angle down, for dives, as well as adjust up/down for altitude. Larger planes cannot be mounted on such small dowels, due to their weight, in metal castings. Shapeways to the rescue! Cheers! |

I have ordered a KI-30 Ann in 1/300 Scale. It's just hard to search as I get between 2,500 and 5,000 hits if I searc by 1/285, 1/300 scall or 6MM Even puting in the aircraft names gets around 500 hits. |

It seems that putting in the name of the manufacturer of the prototype helps cut hits. |

That problem with the number of hits is strange. When I search on 1/285 I get less than 300. When searching on 1/300, I get about 1300. At least that's what I got today. |
