NI Tank

In the early stages of Barbarossa the Soviets cobbled together a number of 'tanks' based on agricultural tractor chassis. By far the largest number of these were the NI tank used in and around Odessa in Aug/Sept 1941 – en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NI_Tank

Apparently 68 were built and had some small success including towing away an entire German artillery battalion !

I have several of these as 15mm models, and I was wondering how I should rate them for FoW scenario games ?

The best analogy I can think of at the moment is the Pz I for armour and movement, but with a variety of weapons (I've found references to HMG, 20mm and 37mm).

Can anyone offer any ideas ?

TIA

Pete

Unless Battlefront releases a model themselvs, you are unlikely to have "official" stats.
I would at least make it "Very Slow", since it was based on a tractor, and probably heavily burdened.
It "could" withstand small arms fire.
I would do what they did with vehicle stats in V1, and make it 1-1-0, Very Slow, and just plug in stats for hull mounted weapons from other comparable tanks.
A ROF other than 1 would be far too generous.

It might give the FT-17 a fair fight. grin

Reading more closely, it had a traversable turret.
OK, make it "slow traverse" instead of "hull mounted".

An agricultural tractor loaded down with plate armor and weapons shouldn't be rated anywhere near as "good" as a purpose-built tank, even one as flimsy as the Pz. I.

My suggestion is:

(DshK-armed)

I will have you know my FT-17 tanks have put forth heroic efforts and thwarted several German attacks!

John the OFM26 Apr 2013 5:56 p.m. PST

That was due to your very skillful use of them.

Thanks John, that's very helpful.

I've done well with FT-17s in afew games too. Strange, but true. And oh so very satisfying. Take that, you nasty Germans! Unless it's games where they've benn used as bunkers on the Mannerheim Line. In which case. Take that, you nasty Russians!
