Hey folks, I was wondering if there was a cheap source for modern, 1/43 die casts out there? I can go slightly smaller too (for 28mm gaming) but I need a lot of vehicles, and many of the places I am finding the cars are more detailed models and appear to be quite a bit more expensive than I was looking for.

Models under $10 USD each would be awesome, any ideas?

Check CVS or Wallgreen's.
They usually have them on an endcap.

I have a search set up on Ebay for the Heller 1/43 car kits. They make a variety of cars in 1/43… styrene kits you have to put together and paint, they're quite nice but not overly detailed.
The prices can vary, as usual for Ebay… but I've got really good deals on a number of them.

I don't know if they still have them, but I bought a bunch at Toys R Us. I think it was like 30 bucks for a box of 10 of them, or something in that neighborhood, its been about 3 years, so…

Look for Welley brand from China, they have a checkerplate pattern on the box art. Can usualy find them in big discount shops or on the web for $2 USD-$4 each

I just won 2 on ebay (a VW bus and a police van) for total of about $18 USD (inc postage).

Used search for 1/43 in Toys and Hobbies.

Yep, CVS has lots to choose from, for about $6.00 USD each, but I recommend taking a ruler, since some appear to be of inconsistent scale.

CVS Pharmacy has a whole display of the, cars, police cars etc for $4.99 USD. If you dont have any near you let me know I can get some for you. There is a guy selling them on ebay for $8.99 USD if ypou want to look at them. Under 28mm zombies.

Slot car bodies can be cheap, but you would have to add wheels.

I saw a load of Maisto diecast cars at Walgreens yesterday for about $3.50 USD each. No scale given, but they looked like they'd work with 28mm. Smaller cars, two-seater sports cars, not big SUVs or trucks. Good looking, more models than toys. Interested? IM me if you want me to pick some up.
