New EWM flexible trench systems with product video. Early War Miniatures new range of WW1 onwards trench systems. These are designed and made in Great Britain by EWM. The trench module systems offers flexibility of creating multiple different trench layouts with an innovative system of magnets to hold the seams together. Made from Vacuum Form High impact Polystyrene plastic, these are highly detailed, light weight and easy to paint. Designed for figures based on pennies, they offer an easily affordable trench model layout in 20mm scale. Authentic details, designed for figures mounted on Pennies they offer a highly playable trench system that can be set up differently every time you use it. Each module comes with purpose built white metal accessories to add extra detail to the models. Additional packs of white metal accessories are also available. these are 20mm scale. I designed these to be different. Different from all the other model trench systems out there. A short 3 minute product video can be viewed at : youtu.be/lZDFtUslHXA
Products can be viewed and ordered at : earlywarminiatures.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=413_422 Available only from earlywarminiatures.com or at shows we attend. Thanks to my historical and technical advisors for your patience and support for this project. Thanks for your interest, I hope you like the trench systems (and the Video – its my first one !) Very nice indeed. Will they work with 15mm? |

Very excellent looking product. I would like to see the natural version as well as the nicely decorated ones, for comparison. The video was very well done. No narrative by players in hokie looking costumes, just pictures of the product, with simple music background and captions telling the facts. I liked the close ups and the views of pieces put together. Just as I was asking how they stick together, the secret is shown :) The WW1 pictures were good but needed to be longer so viewer could compare originals with the models. My only concern is that I had a mind view of the actual trenches having longer straight sections, not as wavy as the models. Finally at the end I discover these are scaled for 20mm :( How do they work with 28mm figs. The whole range of EWM is excellent, just too small for me. By the way, is britinf55 an anti-tank rifle and not a Lewis gun? |

Hi Bobgnar, Thanks so much for your comments on the video and product. I really appreciate your feed back. In terms of working with 28mm figures, there was some good discussion on this subject when the product was previewed on the lead adventures forum, link below. link There are some pictures with a Perry plastic 28mm figure in the trench models for comparison. link My personal view is that with out some work, I.e raising the height of the parapet, out of the bag they don't work. I am told by others who game with this scale they do. End of the day, it's down to the person buying them if they work for them or not? I just don't want people to buy them and be disappointed. Pictures I think help to show if they work or not. link I will post some un painted pictures on the earlywarminiatures.com web store. I undercoat end them in grey primer to help show all the details. Painting is easy. I painted these following this method: Wash first in warm soapy water, dry. Undercoat with mat grey acrylic paint spray. Once dry, paint with acrylic paints, I did drag browns and green first. Also, paint out sand bags in dard yellows, wooden boarding in brown and wriggly tin in khaki green. I then picked out some of the sand bagging with a dark brown. Then apply sepia wash over the whole model and allow to dry. Apply a black wash to trench wooden boarding areas.. Allow to dry. Then dry brush using ever lighter Colures. Seal with a Matt varnish and apply flock to edges. Thats it. I am currently doing a painting guide and how to build video to go with the product. Thanks again, Paul T@ewm |

Quote""Very nice indeed. Will they work with 15mm?" Ditto. Duck" Hi Duck, the same answer applies as for 28mm I think. However, I have seen some "15mm" figures that frankly are more like 18mm and so I thnk these are a closer fit than 28mm's, just my opinion? I do accessories to go with these models, one pack contains loads of "duck boards". If you stick these down on the firing step, I think they are a better fit out of the bag. I will post some pictures later on and you can, like with the 28mm figure, make up your own mind? Thanks for your interest, Regards paul T |

If you base your 28mm minis on pennies, or a 19mm base, then you are set. With the typical 25mm or 30mm bases, it's going to be a real challenge. I know a few folk that base their 28's on pennies or even nickels, specifically to accommodate their personal collections of terrain, vehicles and ships. Works surprisingly well, but clearly not the current practice for most folk

" Thanks for posting Peabody, much appreciated. I only base on pennies or Euro cents, and don't game in 28mm figs so this information is very helpful. Thanks again, paul T@EWM |

Ok, so the deepest part of the trenchworks and the firing steps are ~20mm wide. That's actually really good for me, since I base 15mm troops on pennies or 1/8x3/4" fender washers. Let's see here
12" wide so I'd need 24 trenches for that scenario in This Quar's War
