I am wondering which is better for 15mm ACW:

6mm Roads or 15mm Roads. In many of the pictures I have seen it appears that 6mm is the favored sizing.

Suggestions and opinions appreciated. Especially good dealers to get latex roads from.

Battlefield Terrain Concepts makes some very nice rubber dirt roads. Not sure of the size, but I think they are 15mm. I would use a road that is at least as wide as the base of the stands. But others may prefer smaller.

Since most stands in 15mm are 3/4" to 1 inch wide, I believe most roads will be 1" to 1 1/4" wide.

Try cutting out felt in various widths for a trial run. In almost all cases they will be completely whacked out with ground scale. At 25yds per inch a 1.25 inch wide road is 100 feet across!

I use 1.5" roads with my 15mm figures.

I have used all three of the above for road, JR 6mm rubber are nice but I had to paint the edges of the ones I had. They changed to compound to an earth tone so that is not an use anymore. BTC are first class as well, and same goes for the Terrain Guy. Right now what I do not have I "pour" my self using woodland scenic or other media to lay out roads. When I am done the material goes into by bulk box for recycling for base cover or scattered terrain. Been doing this for years. Masking tape painted with textured spray paint from the craft shop makes some really good roads for 15mm as well.

There are several tutorials on TMP about making your own using calking material that work very well too.

I make my own dirt roads…they are about 1.5" wide. Use them for both 15mm, 20mm & 28mm roads. Good luck in your research.

In 15mm a 1" road is good. Most modern wargamers can't relate to how bad roads were.

I definately would not go larger than 1". A half inch wide road with a quarter inch on eather side of grass would at least make the road plausable to ground scale, even though it is still way out of proportion.
