I've just posted up some pictures of the Lance and Longbow Society's demo refight of Cravant 1423, at Salute show on my blog – link below. This was a HYW refight, between Anglo-Burgundians and Franco-Scots armies, separated over a river. Pictures of the set-up, with another to follow this week re the game. Wow, awesome stuff. Thanks for the inspiration, I have fallen off the wagon with regard to painting French Dismounted MAA for the Agincourt game I am putting on the end of May. Once I am done with enough French, I was thinking of adding some Scot's into the mix to do some of the later battles. It looks like you have your Scot's modeled with the long spear. From reading several different medieval rules there is a division of thought regarding the Scot's on the mainland. Some say they would be equipped just like the English/French, others have them in the more traditional long spear. If I may ask, what is your reasoning behind modeling them with the long spear (I am leaning towards this as well, mostly because I want a different type of unit). I lack is any good reference book that covers the Scot's on the main land, do you know of any? Thanks Chris |

Harness and Array is a great website; always neat stuff. Does anyone know who makes the bear tied to the post? Richard |

Spooner6: I've made an assumption that the Scottish spear usage from the English wars of the early 15th century, would not have radically changed in a generation, but I've not read anything about Scots arms used in 1420s campaigns – apart from attempt to increase number of archers raised. War in 15mm: The bear is a Wargames Foundry model – was lucky enough to purchase a couple as individual castings from Dave Thomas at a UK show last year – otherwise part of a costly pack. thanks for all the comments, Simon. |

Nicely done Simon. I don't game the period, but your blog is always a joy to behold. You just might make a convert of me yet. |
