Hi, A short time ago I painted up some of the test sprues for the Perry Desert Rats plastics that were planned for release for Salute. This I did and then it was really a case of waiting to see what Michael would do with the miniatures. I tend to base my miniatures in a vignette manner anyway but boy was I surprised when I saw the finished thing! A really great diorama put together with skill and a real appreciation of drama. Excellent stuff! Of course I wasn't at Salute so I've had to scrounge the pics thus far, I know George Moriatis is responsible for one, the Perry's for the add on their website, which leaves one that i just lifted out of someone's "Pics of Salute"- if you took the pic, please come forward and I'll mention you! I'm expecting more pics very soon so I'll let you know when they are available which shouldn't be long so do please keep an eye out if you're interested in this sort of thing (pics on my blog, link too):
Hope you enjoy the pics and don't forget there will be more soon! Darrell. |

Atheling, Yes, I really do enjoy those photographs. The quality of the sculpts, models, diorama groundwork is very, very good. I was previously unaware of what the Perry's were doing with this range – but now! I am being lead back into WW2 Desert wargaming – what a shame. Excellent work. D'Ewell |

My Desert stuff is all Artizan, how does the Perry stuff compare, scale-wise? The figures look lovely and the paint job superb, but I'm not a huge fan of plastics. I'm hoping to be convinced! |

My Desert stuff is all Artizan, how does the Perry stuff compare, scale-wise? The figures look lovely and the paint job superb, but I'm not a huge fan of plastics. I'm hoping to be convinced If you're at all familiar with the scale of the Plastic Perry Medievals then it could be said that the Desert Rats stuff is roughly almost a head shorter and are slighter too. They have a lot of very fine detail that is well proportioned but might put off some painters as the detail is finer as I've said. I found them a real pleasure to paint up. The Desert War was Artizan's first range and it was quite big if I remember correctly so I don't think that the two would sit very well together. That said, the paintbrush can be a great leveler in terms of size. Why not pick up a box and see what you think? Darrell. darrellhindley.co.uk gewalthaufen.blogspot.co.uk link link |
