Hi all, spent a modest amount of money at Salute on some 6mm bits and pieces. I bought enough bits to make 2 small starter armies each with infantry, tanks, APCs, VTOLs and walkers. I actually bought some of GZG's 15mm Spider Drones to use as a heavy walker for one of the armies. This one:
Anyone got any stats I could use or offer any advice creating some as I am completely green when it comes to Dirtside. |

Did the same myself – my ideas for DS2 are Size 4 ( It's only just larger by mass than an MBT), MDC/3 in twin mount full traverse turret, Infantry Walker propulsion, and either Hydro- Magnetic Turbine of Fusion Generator Powerplant, depending on the cost you prefer. |

oooh interesting, do you have any shots next to some 6mm troops at all? |

They're a good size for that kind of scale-jumping, and there's a variant model with a single rotary cannon that might also be useful. You could also experiment with swapping the turret for other pieces – GZG has several others small drones (the wheeled ones in particular) that are good candidates for trading pieces, and some of the optional sensor arrays that come with their tank kits will also do nicely for building recon spiders, or ones with some kind of ultratech weapon or force field generator. |

I'll put some pics together.. I have most of the gzg mawps and bots. |

I'd wondered about these
if I could re-purpose them to 6mm. I'll look forward to pictures. |

they work really well. i use the same models in 6mm and 15mm. |

Im sure they would work fine. i prefer the four legged drones with more of a tank turret on, havent put mine together yet, but i will use for 6 and 15mm too. |

Not GZG, but C-in-C does a nice 6-legged walker: link I've been thinking about the GZG 15mm walkers for some time, now. The 4x4 drone makes a decent civvie survey vehicle (and the ECM package is a really good stand-in for the Hammer's Slammers commo blower rigs) in my opinion, and the big mono-fan UAV makes an interesting 6mm flyer. The 15mm mini drones are also very effective even for 6mm uses. |

Thanks for those stats Walrus and thanks for posting the pics Rothgar. I have painted a few of my bits, including one of the spider drones. I'll try and post some pics when I get home from work tonight. It's definitely worth having a look at all of the 15mm suppliers to see what stuff can bridge the scale divide. |

It's definitely worth having a look at all of the 15mm suppliers to see what stuff can bridge the scale divide. Indeed. I use the Xmarx 15mm trucks as opposed to their 6mm ones as they seem meatier and more suited to my big sci-fi gaming. As can be seen in this Blog AAR: link Their 6mm ones just seemed too weedy.

V15 – 46A are the ones i like. Hoping to get mine on the painting table soon. Im thinking of using the V15 – 69C sensor drone mounts for command vehicle turrets in 6mm |

Looking good – really like the Drone and the Command Horizon vehicles, they paint up well! |

This is great Carpet General, but who makes the mecha suit in the lower left? It's a 15mm fig, right? |
MrAverage | 25 Jun 2013 6:15 p.m. PST |
It's a Hound Dog Infantry Walker from GZG.
They make great Heavy Gear-sized mecha at 2mm scale, too, by the way. I'd like to know how you made that great broken-ground base you're using. They look terrific! --M |
ChrisValera | 25 Jun 2013 6:19 p.m. PST |
I think it's actually the code before it, the DSM-139 Hound Dog. It's missing the shoulder-mounted rocket launcher GZG *really* needs to get their act together and have pictures on their website. |
MrAverage | 25 Jun 2013 6:21 p.m. PST |
You're right on both counts. And they need better paint jobs, too. They do more harm than good to the the impression you get of the figures, which are very good quality. --M |

I'd like to know how you made that great broken-ground base you're using. They look terrific!--M Bases are card with wall filler, then sand painted and then a wash applied. Cheers CG |
