There are playtesters for this seriously back-burnered Ganesha Games project here on TMP. This has supposedly in the playtesting phase for, what, five years now? More? I have lost track, keep wandering off to come back and find the pot has yet to boil.

It's not like GG isn't remarkably prolific, despite the fact that it's largely a one-man outfit, with more than his share of real-world concerns tripping things up. Still, scads of titles that have gone from previewed to published, leaving SoA&H in the dust.

So, can anyone here tell me if there is any evidence of this ever going to (e-)print?

Andrea mentioned it on the 15mm fantasy blog a day or so ago, so it is still actively in progress.

Nope, that ship sailed years ago.

kokigami22 Apr 2013 9:20 p.m. PST

A lot of the titles released are tweaks on a working mechanic. I suspect it is a bit trickier to balance that mechanic, while bending it to deal with mass combat, and keep it both simple and properly seasoned..

don't rush the cook.

It's just a matter of other stuff on my hands, and playtesters being not that responsive. In the 5 years you mention, I received – maybe – 5 playtest reports from over 10 people who have the rules.

It will be published this year. I have to do more army lists, or decide they won't be in the book and publish them as free PDFs later.

I also teach one day a week and have written TWO books for Osprey in the meantime…

Danmer23 Apr 2013 8:38 a.m. PST

Hey Andrea, we know what one of those books is (Gods & Mortals) … Can you tell us about the other? Congrats, bytheway!

Danmer,

it is called "A Fistful of Kung Fu – Hong Kong Action Movie Miniatures Rules" and they allowed me to show the cover only today (on the Song of Blades Yahoo group). I will give it more publicity when allowed -- publication date is still very far but I have sent them the final draft already.

SAH will go to the editor next week.

Nice one!

I'm still looking forward to this one.

I'd love to have seen it sooner, but I'm not particularly perturbed that it isn't out yet. Ganesha has alot of oars in the water and some just move a bitquicker than other.

Great to hear that SAH is going to Editors!

I am still really looking forward to this release. The other GG project that I am really hoping to see someday is Power Legion – the superheroes game. Maybe these will spin off the Kung Fu rules? I can hope.

As I've said, I know you have a lot going on, Andrea (although I HAD forgotten about your Osprey books, which I really will look into grin).

It's just depressing to search the message boards for related fantasy mass-combat games, and finding loads of references to the anticipated SoA&H go years back.

I am happy to hear it is on the way in the foreseeable future. I will be looking forward to any updates.

Andrea does a fantastic job, working sround his RSI wrists. I've had it, don't want it again.

He doesn't publish a work that is not thorough and complete.

We are ALL waiting with some impatience for the next title or four!

Patience, grasshopper, it will be worth the wait.

Bombshell Games24 Apr 2013 4:37 p.m. PST

Well, while you're waiting, you could always pass the time causing a little MAYHEM. I don't think Andrea will mind!

We are trying to decide whether SAH is going to be a full color book or black and white book.

Cast your vote. Should Song of Armies and Hordes be a color or black and white book? Color means that the print edition will cost about 4 dollars more, there will be some illustrations but mostly photos of miniatures in action (both 15mm and 28mm) used to show basing examples and contacts, flanking etc. It will also take a few more days to produce.

Black and white means the diagram will be done as clean line drawings (much like your geometry textbooks) and there will be little or no photos (I do not like how miniatures, especially 15mm, look when printed in grayscale).

No, you can't have both. Please cast your vote only if you plan to buy SAH. You can vote here, or on the SBH facebook page, or on the yahoo group… please only vote once. Thanks!

charliemike27 Apr 2013 2:38 a.m. PST

I vote for colour!
I like your books for the rules but there's nothing wrong with some eye candy (and I like game examples).

meledward2329 Apr 2013 6:10 p.m. PST

color

Madan Mitra30 Apr 2013 2:51 p.m. PST

Colour, please.

The Beast Rampant08 May 2013 8:22 a.m. PST

B&W for me.

I was very fond of the presentation of the original SoB&H.

I'm buying it, either way.
