From their plastics workbench, a small teaser:

Wotr Hobilars & MAA plastics are now on the site as well!

PiersBrand22 Apr 2013 2:14 p.m. PST

Saw them at Salute… and the Plastic ACW artillery.

FusilierDan22 Apr 2013 2:32 p.m. PST

I'd better start painting all the metal ones so I'm caught up when these come out.

Brooklyn Wargamer22 Apr 2013 3:16 p.m. PST

Oh, WOW!!!

I want them!!! NOW!!! </drool>…

Generalstoner4922 Apr 2013 3:22 p.m. PST

Very nice. Only thing that I have to say is I am not too thrilled with the casual marching stance. I could see making 2 or 3 of them but not much more. Glad they match up with the British arms so you can do some advancing poses.

Bandolier22 Apr 2013 3:51 p.m. PST

Good news. Looking forward to some interesting headwear variants with these.

Glad they match up with the British arms so you can do some advancing poses.

Yes. Also means the shouldered arms can be used for the Brits too. More variety is welcome.

"Only thing that I have to say is I am not too thrilled with the casual marching stance"

Yeah, I wont be usingthose either. They still look ghreat, as does the ACW arty.

If you don't want them, you can send them to me…

I'll take them. grin

More than happy to. These are quite nice.

Wow!

The great thing about these plastic releases is the ability to provide a lot of options so people can get what they want when it comes to poses.

Except when you provide no option for a marching pose but then no one would ever do that.

Casual marching stance…useless.

Please do not make an entire box of %&$&W marching poses!

Can you make some firing poses PLEASE!

Generalstoner4922 Apr 2013 5:33 p.m. PST

Ever notice how so few of these new plastic sets do not have firing poses? I wonder if it has something to do with ease of sculpting or just harder to cast or make?

I did notice that it had a release date to be decided. My guess it will still be 6-8 months before we see these guys. :(

Firescale22 Apr 2013 6:07 p.m. PST

I think it makes sense to not have any firing poses. If they were to include the arms for it the bodies would be completely wrong for marching/advancing. It's one or the other folks, and I would rather advancing types as I think would the majority of people. Just my two cents.

SonofThor22 Apr 2013 6:33 p.m. PST

Is there an ETA on these?

45thdiv22 Apr 2013 6:59 p.m. PST

I actually like the casual pose. I would do a unit of these for militia. It says that the kit will have enough arms so you could do all of the marching properly or casually.

It also says no release date yet.

I too like the firing pose. The Sudan plastics and the British napoleonic infantry have firing poses, but they could do more.

@Sonofthor, I would figure about 6 months based on their past releases..

French Wargame Holidays22 Apr 2013 11:11 p.m. PST

sweeeet!

Griefbringer23 Apr 2013 4:23 a.m. PST

@Sonofthor, I would figure about 6 months based on their past releases..

If we use their past plastic releases as a basis, then I would say 6-18 months from now might be realistic estimate.

Perrys themselves do not give any release date estimates for the plastics until the sets are actually very close to the release, ie. only 1-2 months before the expected release time. Considering that they have also other work to do, and that the plastic production can be affected by many factors way beyond their control, this is probably a sensible policy.

I only wish they were available now, but this gives me time to get all my other painting done.

I hope that there will be other arm positions for the Hunting Frock figures, since the uniform arms are not going to work with out doing some work to them.

SonofThor23 Apr 2013 5:57 p.m. PST

Has anyone compared these to the Fife & Drum miniatures? I'm guessing the Perry minis are going to be a bit bigger.

If the Perry plastic AWI Americans are as good as their Brits, I'll be buying a box or three.
