link Any info on what uniforms these guys wore? I already have Morgan's rifles in white hunting shirts, seems a pity if these are also similarly uniformed, although I'd like to paint them up either way. thanks in advance, AJ ajs-wargaming.blogspot.com |

As Scammell came out of the New Hampshire line, is it possible that his battalion was created from the light companies there? In which case they would be so uniformed. You can always use the uniform of the LT Division at Yorktown. link |

From the Wikipedia article: "The men of this unit were selected from the Continental Line regiments from Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire that were garrisoned at West Point." And from the Yorktown Order of Battle: "Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Scammell's battalion (2 New Hampshire, 3 Massachusetts, and 3 Connecticut light infantry companies) " |

According to Katcher:- CONNECTICUT The Line was reorganised at the start of 1781, but there is no record as to whether the official uniform was worn then or not. Prior to 1781, captured British coats (undyed and with white facings), and hunting shirts were common. MASSACHUSETTS Deserter reports for a few regiments show that the Regulation uniform of blue coats faced white appears to have been issued to some extent in 1779, but few details appear for 1780-81. NEW HAMPSHIRE By 1781, the officers at least appear to have been issued with (or had made for them) the dark blue coats with white facings for the New England regiments. Musicians seem to have worn reversed colours.

Thank you all gentlemen. I think I'll go with blue with white facings, maybe mix in the odd figure or two of hunting shirt. |

And add in the odd brown coat with red facings, as Massachusetts drew brown with red lottery coats as well as Blue Faced White
