I won't review the rules again as you can find the 3 part review of them here:

Instead I'm going to focus on the book itself. First of all, I noticed that it was bound differently than the Polish language version which I heard had some issues after prolonged use. The new binding came with a swap of printers but the rest of the book is the same high standard as the Polish version in terms of paper thickness, quality, colors and feel. But that is not the only direct improvement, the past year the Polish edition have been played at countless tournaments and been really put to the test.

Check my blog for the full review of the book and more pictures:

Very impressed both the the book and the enthusiasm of the chaps at salute (Been impressed with the figures and buildings for a few years now!)Over a quick flick through it certainly appears to be good quality Although some of the translation may not be quite up to the Queen's English it makes absolute sense and is well laid out.

Looking forwards to trying out a few games,

Tally Ho!

Please update your Kickstarter page. Change "SCERNARIOS" to "SCENARIOS" (no extra R). I would have PMed you, but you don't apparently have that available.

Stuff looks great and I am looking for something to do with my Polish and Cossack collection that is sitting on the shelf collecting dust.

@ Kadrinazi – the book looks beautiful! And the figures shown in your Kickstarter video look great too! I think I will be spending some money here.

How do the figures compare size wise with Testudo and Khurasan renaissance figures?

Anatoli22 Apr 2013 11:07 a.m. PST

They are less "bulky" than Khurasan, and the horses appear to be a bit more realistic in their proportions. Other than that both ranges are fairly similar in height.

Don't know about Testudo as no one at my club has those.

nickinsomerset22 Apr 2013 11:09 a.m. PST

They are as tall as Testudo, but slimmer. I have units from Legio Heroica and Wargamer PL in my armies but not in the same units.

If you have Ottomans the Mektar band is a must!

Tally Ho!

@Dale Hurtt – thanks, what a silly typo. Already changed.

nickinsomerset/Anatoli--I have severalhundred Khurasan
heavy cavalry. Can I brigade them with these figures?

nickinsomerset22 Apr 2013 12:26 p.m. PST

Not in the same units, they are about the right height, but of different proportions,

Tally Ho!

Anatoli22 Apr 2013 2:24 p.m. PST

As nickinsomerset said, no problem of using them, but they won't mix well with the By Fire & Sword range so keep them in separate units and it won't be a visual problem :-)

There is also no problem using other bases than the metal ones provided in the boxed sets. I prefer to use thicker MDF bases myself, but keep the proportions that the game uses (4x2cm for infantry, 4x3cm for cavalry and 4x4cm for generals and artillery stands).

nickinsomerset22 Apr 2013 2:47 p.m. PST

I mount my BF & S chaps on their metal bases, and others on MDF, in the case of my Muscovites and Polish by Legio Heroica and QR it makes them the same height!

Tally Ho!

Will the rules in English be distributed by a gaming retailer in America?

Kadrinazi23 Apr 2013 9:48 a.m. PST

Yes but only once Kickstarter is finished.

barcah200129 Apr 2013 6:03 a.m. PST

Who will be your distributer in the US? I assume the rules and figs will still be available here in June?

Kadrinazi29 Apr 2013 6:37 a.m. PST

In US You can buy our range from FRP Games:

I cannot say how quickly will they stock English rulebook though, in June priority will be given to all backers from KS :)
After Salute we have few more companies that are interested in selling our products, so any new distributors will be announced once confirmed.

We received many questions in relations to army's construction in ‘By Fire and Sword': how does it work, how to do it, how should I build my army, how Skirmish level works? To at least partially answer that, we decided to present part of English rulebook with information about it. Although description is in regards to Skirmish level only, it should be very useful and give You some foretaste before Division level. Soon we will also publish few examples of skirmish groups and regiments. You can download that sneak peak from our download section, it's called ‘Using Army lists' (bottom of page)
