Does anybody use these for gaming? I played a "game" with my 5 and 6 year old kids using Lego SW minis and really old Space Hulk game boards. Anybody else game with these and what rules do you use?

Problem is, it's gonna be cheaper to use licensed 28mm lead miniatures than the luxury items they call minifigs :)

I use Fantasy/Medieval LEGO figs sometimes with Song of Blades and Heroes…

…but I haven't done any gaming with my SW LEGO figs. Maybe Flashing Steel (I've seen others use it for SW) or Blasters and Bulkheads would work well.

Chero, it may be cheaper but the figures are more robust than any figures. And the paintjob would last longer.

Plus you can customise the minis, add weapons etc.

Dark Knights, my boy is drooling over those pics.

We did two games for the convention season in 2010. Alternating between clone wars and the original movies. For the clone games we used 200 droids with support and Sith lords against 50 clones and 10 Jedi.

This isn't my blog but it has more pictures of the game from Salute.

The idea was to show youngsters that wargaming can be done with anything from the toy box and a set of rules on one sheet of paper.

The cost wasn't too bad as I picked up most of the figures cheap on ebay and Bricklink. I made a Jedi copy of the club players that came and supported the game by playing.

We did a repeat of sorts last year with a Dr Who participation game. There are some pictures in this link of the game in development. link

One thing I must warn you about. Children in tears when parents want to move on and look at something else.

All my Blasters & Bulkheads games use 'em. Recently we've been doing some small FUBAR games too for more stand-up fights. I use the castle ones for fantasy gaming – Song of Blades for skirmishes and bigger battles using HOTT, Rally Round the King and Hail Caesar (the last with fairly small units in terms of figures, sure – 8 for a standard infantry unit – but it looks surprisingly good on the table).

The advantages for me are that a) I suck at painting and b)the ability to switch weapons, and mount/dismount cavalry (or jetbike) figures is ideal for skirmishes. And I just think they look quite cool. At least if you aren't taking it all seriously.

I do not have the link but a guy did the battle of Hoth in Lego Star Wars figures. He also had an excellent layout of the McDonalds in the Hoth Hanger.

That's really neat. My son would love that for sure.
