I stumbled across this oddity by accident. It could make a very nice alternative ACW or VSF model. It looks silly to our eyes, but it is an interesting footnote on how the South was searching for ways to break the Northern blockade. link |

There is no scale. Perhaps it is big enough for the operators to be inside? Presumably someone has to stoke the steam engine. |

More than a bit late for ACW, but just at the end of Vicky's reign, I posted a bit about a compressed helicopter patent model developed around 1900, by a mechanic for Swift & Co of St Joseph, MO, USA. link No indication of pilot position, either. ;->= Of course, as Swift was a purveyor of meat products, could have been an abattoir as well
