Hmmm, and here I expected a video that was going to show a new tilt rotor with jet engines on the sides. Looks cool but not sure it would really work in a combat environment. The EFV I was kind of surprised got axed considering how old the AAVP is. |

A big selling point of the V-280 is that it will be cheaper to develop than the V-22. Well, guess what – we already have the Osprey. A lot of the improvements they are touting for the V-280 (lower weight due to more composites, newer avionics, armament) are logical additions to the next Osprey update. I'm all for advancing the state of the art
but this proposal seems to be what JSF was to the F-22: JSF was supposed to be smaller, cheaper, more advanced, and only slightly less capable than F-22. Turned out to be smaller, potentially more expensive, and a lot of lost capability compared to the F-22. (Yes, I know it's VTOL-capable in some versions, but that capability has cost all the other versions dearly as well.) |

Seriously, I thought the Firm already developed such an aircraft back in the 1980s:

Yea, and with all those windows on the one in the foreground, looks like they are angling for the commercial business executive market too. |

Just Bell trying to keep the gravy flowing. I'd be shocked if about the only thing that really happens is over time, an Osprey Mk2 Block A,B, C etc. |

Interesting. The engines remain stationary and the shaft/transmission/rotor assembly is the only thing axail rotating. Hmm. Given the increasing issues with infrastructure and road system design constraints, business might take a serious look at these if the cost came down. Heck, I know FEDEX is seriously ed about continued traffic delays in Dallas TX. |
