Command and Colors but this may be a board game
I do know that gamers do this with miniatures though
. Don't see why you couldn't do DBA or Basic Impetus with hexes

Iron Ivan Games Gladiator rules Victus use hexes and is made for single combat. Doc |

My old Ancient rules were a (very successful) adaptation of the Fantasy Games Unlimited set "Legion!", to a gridded table. Although I have named them "Legio Quaternarius", we in fact always played them with a 3" hex grid table with 25 mm figures on 60mm frontage stands. link Peter |

C&c looks cool
boardgame
could implement miniatures thugh.. probably. Legio quaternarius looks fun. The siege engine seems kind of interesting. Keep it up |

Command and Colours is quite commonly played with figures
Here is C&C Plataea being played at last year's BattleDay (with 20mm plastic figures) Megablitz and More regularly features C&C 25mm games if you want a flavour of how it plays. The Society of Ancients game Legion is a hex based early version of Sabin's landmark Lost Battles (Society of Ancients games) Let the Dominoes Decide uses hexagons and Gladiolus (both on the same SoA page) is based on off-set squares (which is the same as hexagons and so switches easily enough) Some good games, there

And if you wanted to go absolutely off the reservation you could decide to use the old (possibly 'ancient') SPI or 3W ancients games, Phalanx, Legion etc. And use the figures as "counters". Bwaah haah hahahaha! |

Kallistra have a free download of Medieval rules on their site for their hex system
. I know you want Ancients, but these are so good and well presented that it may give you a starting point to modify a set for yourself. |

We play CnC Ancients on Kallistra hexes. I have also ported Lost Battles to play on hexes, albeit with groups of hexes for each of the original grid areas. DBA might work, but I feel it is more suited to squares. |

There is this: link I know nothing about it, other than the fact that it's hex-based. |

Phalanx and Legion – both designed by Phil Sabin. The first was originally published in one of the wargame mags. Phalanx is a DBA-level of complexity, Legion is more like 7th. C&C ancients certainly fits the bill. DBA (and indeed DBM) work very well with element-sized squares; eliminates all the fiddly geometry. |

Commands and Colors Ancients works very well as a miniatures game. Here's a match we played last August. link |

Don't see why you couldn't do DBA or Basic Impetus with hexes
There was a conversion of DBM to hexes published in a French wargaming magazine years ago – the same principles could be used to convert DBA easily enough. I started to work on the project, but then got put off by the current DBA version foofra and put it on a back burner. Edit – forgot to give the name. Doh! It was "Champs de Bataille" and it was published in Vae Victis magazine. Doug |

There's also Ancient Battles Deluxe by Victory Point Games, which is a modernization of the old Ancient Battles game. |

I too recommend C&C Ancients. If it makes you feel better, it was designed and written as a miniatures game. If you accept the game mechanic "Area Movement" (hexes) and paint a couple of armies, it is no less a miniatures game than any other. |
