I'm taking my 9 year old daughter to Saluet again this year. last year the Bristol Club put on an excellent Mammoth hunting game TUSK – I belive it was Kevin who ran it. We're again keen to find some games we can play. I will be with her, so not looking for child care. Anyone putting on anything particularly suitable? |

Hi Richard, You and your Daughter are welcome to have a go on the Victrix 54mm Napoleonic game. Big soldiers on a big table and lots of dice. It is over in under an hour and we had kids and mums playing last year. Regards, Steve. |

I'm running the Cod War participation game for the NWS – plucky Icelandic coastguard vessels attempt to cut the nets of perfidious British trawlers whilst the RN seek to protect them. playing time < 1hour |

thanks guys cod wars I remember as a kid, and large scale Napoleonics sounds fun. I saw the list on the website and there looks a lot on but its hard to tell which we should make a beeline for. |

If you are looking for games that are more about tactics than just shooting the opposition then Cod Wars would be a very fun game for a 9yr old, easpecially if she's good at chess and can think ahead – movement is simultaneous and working out where boats might be is quite important!! |

We have 'Jarl and the Jomsvikings' a Viking version of the Salute theme Jason and the Argonauts, complete with a Wizard of Oz theme (yes really) This uses the War & Conquest rules complete with the forthcoming latest FREE addition, War & Sorcery. Some details here link but you are welcome to stop, play for a while- eg roll dice, cackle at suitable moments and then move on to one of the other games. Kind regards Rob Broom scarabminiatures.com warandconquest.co.uk |

Great ideas thanks I'll make sure we visit everyone who has kind enough to respond. She enjoys Wings of War with its simulataneous movement so cod wars sounds like something she'd enjoy |

There is a new Too Fat Lardies rule system being shown off in the usual TFL participation format. However, the TFL trademark "Carry On" humour might not be for the ears of a 9-year-old girl. |

My husband and his friends are hosting a game called Escape From Troy. It takes about 45 minutes and one of the main characters is a young female. Very simple game; even I grasped it in a minute or two. And they are bringing lots of (Belgian) chocolate sweets with them especially for the kids. |

No worries Richard. Apparently people played their game from 10.15 till 16.50 solid. However if you and your daughter would like to join next years' TSA game at Salute you're both very welcome. I'm not entirely sure what is going to be but I know it's about World War I and it has box- like armoured cars in it. |
