Well? I game mostly in 15mm and was wondering if I could use 2-man bases to avoid all the shuffling of individual figures. I really don't want to use each 2-man base as a single "man" as some have suggested. Melee seems to be the big problem. Any ideas?

No problem. Just use a marker for single casualties, or do one or two single figures to use as change.

I did it for my Sudan and French Foreign Legion games. I'll do it for Zulus, and for Natives in my FIW games too. Basically any mass formation troops. I wouldn't do it for units capable of multiple formations so most European units will remain individually based.

Select from the menu at left to see the Arabs in the Legion pics.

I don't track wounds on natives. I also don't stick to 20 man units strictly. If you have rifles units I do mostly 2 man stands so they can man walls, and all that.

Yes, you can.

Sure. Use markers or have a few figs to make change.

It would make the melee round, with the individual figure matchup a bit difficult, but there are ways around that.

Then again, depending on your tastes, the Battalion Variant of TSATF, "800 Fighting Englishmen," calls for 5 four-figure bases (two x two). The rules permit much larger battles through some simplifications, and the multi-figure bases also speed play. The 800FE rules already allow for Melee's to be resolved using the four-figure bases.

It's available from Sergeants 3 for, I believe, $18.00 USD and requires TSATF20th for the complete game package.
