Does anyone make 15mm figures for the American army as fought at the battle of Fallen Timbers 1794? Are there American War of Indpendence or War of 1812 figures that would suit?
thanks

Frying Pan and Blanket has ones that I think are designed for it…small 20mm size.

Otherwise some figures in the minifigs line (french revolution wars) work reasonably well.

I just bit the proverbial bullet and went with RSM and Old Glory with a few Perry gunners.

All in glorious 25mm…

Glengarry – There are no figures on the market that would be spot on for 1794. Frying Pan & Blanket are indeed small 20mm figures which are showing their age, but are very cheap when compared to other 20mm figures on the market, as well as some 15mm ranges. The figures are also in their correct uniform and gear, with rifle troops carrying tomahawks. The issue with FP&BA is that they are old school mail order as well. You can write to them here:

2283 Apache Street
Mendota Heights, MN 55120

Send a SASE for a paper listing. It will take them some time to respond as both owners have full time jobs.

In the interim, one can see their listings for all their ranges here (warning, pop up heavy):

I happen to live close to what was established as part of the Western border of the US in the Treaty of Greenville, the Tuscarawas River,in 1795.Its kind of hard to fathom that I can go a mile down the road and be in what was once considered "foreign".Of course, where I live at one time belonged to France as well.

epturner, I'm familiar with Old Glory's line for Wayne's Legion. Also Parkfield Miniatures has 25mm Wayne's Legion. What RSM figures did you find useful?

Militia Pete15 Apr 2013 10:03 a.m. PST

First complete army was Wayne's Legion. Used OG figures prior to FF&BA figures came out.

Maybe Blue Moon may make some. Sadly, never used this army.

Zippy;
It was a bag of the AWI Continental Light infantry in cap with a belly box.

Funny thing. I got them as a job lot with other bags. And I was looking at them and I figured they might just make decent Wayne's Legion pongos.

They aren't bad. A little off, but they have overalls, light kit, and aren't too bad.

Well, this is what the really looked like:

That's creative, Eric. I'm not fussy about what hats my bluecoats wear. Blue coat, red facings, white tails: check. Will do for Continentals or First Americans or Levies or Legion…even for 1812 uniformed militia, if I push my luck. And I always do.

Nice pix historygamer. Makes me want to paint tonight.

Zippy;
My Levies are from the OG AWI line, floppy hats, and a mix of hunting shirts and regimentals and overalls.

Obviously they work in well with the OG Wayne's Legion lads.

As far as what HG posted, there is some discussion as to if the Light Companies wore the round hat with crest or not. Also, as a matter of technique, you could use the 20mm 5.5 inch British Howitzer from the RSM Nappy line as the King's Howitzers that Wayne's lads were supposed to be equipped with.

My two shillings worth.

Eric:

I do not think those are the Light companies, but the hat companies. I'm not sure the Legion had Lights, but I'll defer to the expert whom I know is lurking here. :-)

As far as uniforms go, the Osprey book "The United States Army 1783–1811" is probably the best source. Also check Osprey's "Fallen Timbers 1794 The US Army's first victory".
The Legion, even though it only existed for a few years, had differing lengths of coats, types of headgear, etc. What the Light Infantry or Rifles companies wore is always up for debate. The hat that looks like a American Light Infantry cap from the American Revolution was actually made from old wool felt hats and was worn by the Legion at one time because they couldn't get turned up hats with the bearskin. It was the same style hat Wayne had 5th PA make during the Revolution. Wayne had lots of problem with supplies and equipping the men.
I reenact the 4th Sublegion out of Woodville Plantation historic site, south of Pittsburgh. Our unit wears long tailed coats, bearskin hats with green trim and regular cartridge boxes, not belly boxes. Men of the 4th Sublegion garrisoned Fort Fayette in Pittsburgh.

Now who wouldn't huzzah a still like that. :-)

Anyone have these?

I have the Parkfield figures…I helped provide some info to Parkfield so that they would be in correct kit/gear. Good range, fits fairly well with Old Glory (just a hair shorter, but heft wise they fit well).

The Osprey book must be used with great caution. The plates show what the uniforms were meant to be, not what they were in actuality. The Legion certainly did not have "wings" on their uniforms.

The Legion had light and rifle units, or maybe those terms are interchangeable. Let's call them rifle as that is what I have in my Fallen Timbers order of battle.

There is a lot of Legion related info on the Moccasins Yahoo group in the Files section:

I wonder if anyone in the US imports the Parkfield figures?

Buckeye AKA Darryl10 May 2015 7:35 a.m. PST

There is no U.S. distributor for Parkfield, and the shipping rates he charges are LARGE. But he provides good service and the figures do blend well with Old Glory.

There are now three packs of Blue Moon Legion figures in 15/18mm. They are about a half head shorter than the Frying Pan offerings, and heft-wise seem to blend fairly nicely. However, as Blue Moon are not offering correct lights and rifle figures yet, Frying Pan is probably still the way to go.
