I couldn't make it to Bletchley for the Society of Ancients Battle Day, so I ended up doing something completely different: link Adapted Shako II, and it seemed to give a good result. It certainly moved along quickly enough! Cheers, all Paul |

15mm: God's own scale. (I know, I know but "God's Own Size" doesn't have quite the ring) Can anyone name a refight that a median gamer can put on that's better in 25's than in 15's? |

Craonne, 1814 is small enough. Mind you, depends on what rules

Maida 1806, Rolica or Vimiero in 1809, Or pretty much any Peninsular battle if you have table space (I use 12 foot x 6 foot for big figure games – just put on Castalla 1813 with over a thousand 28mm models!) Then of course there's all the smaller battles of the other theatres, that 15mm gamers ignore in favour of doing all of Waterloo or Borodino or whatever. Lets not forget the other war of 1812 too, in America. Such a sweeping statement Flashman, surely you are just looking to stir up trouble ;-) |

I don't have an opinion on which scale is preferable – I just have time limitations on what I can realistically paint. So I do ancients in 25mm and Napoleonics in 15mm; I'd love to do Napoleonics in 25mm as well for exactly the reason Dean mentions! |

What a game! How many figures? Did it play to a conclusion? How long did it take? Thanks for posting. It certainly has a Napoleonic look to it. Tom |

Huge battle, looks very impressive. |

Hi Tom, we had 4000 figures, played over six hours to the same point in time that the original battle ended. However, in our game it would have taken longer to get to a resolution. This is the second time we've played one of these monster games, and although they are a lot of fun they seem to finish just at the point where a real decision is coming. So the plan next time is to play over two days, which would also be better for the folks travelling long distances. I think the consensus is a sector of Leipzig, probably in October. The vote so far is for Poniatowski and friends

Caliban, thanks for answering my questions. One more. How many turns did you get in during the six hours? Thanks. Tom |

Hi Tom, I think it was twelve by the time I had to go. The first four or five were very quick, mostly dealing with the large central fight. Everyone else was either busy arriving on the board or moving towards the fighting. |

Thanks again, Caliban. Tom |
