Anyone know if this smaller-level game is viable as-is in 6th Ed? They did not include an "official" modified-for-6th in the rulebook, anyone know of a fan-based mod for 6th Ed? Gearing for my son's friends who in no possible way can afford "normal" 40k, but they like the models and backstory, etc. and at a much smaller scale like this, they CAN afford it (especially with proxies and such – these are 1x a week, friendly games on the kitchen table.) I know I could modify the "official" rules myself if I wanted, but if someone else already did it and playtested it, save us the time of doing it ourselves. |

I can't see why it will not work, the 6th Ed rules still use force organisation charts. I agree it is a great way of playing 40K and allows for armies to be developed over time without splashing the cash! |

Still viable for 6th edition. You might also want to check the Kill Team rules as well for something different. |

KIll Team – that's it. I knew there was another skirmisher-level ruleset out there they could try. With small eBay buys, they can specialize everything they need without paying a big sum for the "excess" figures! |

Funny. The Second Founding podcast talked about this very subject not too long ago. |

Forgot about Kill Team, that is also a great way of playing 40k on a budget. |

"40k on a budget" Given how much of a numbers game it is (the rules, not the marketing schemes) playing it outside its own comfort zone is probably far more interesting than the usual buckets of dice. |

I've not tried 40k in 40 minutes, but reading through it again, I seen no reason it wouldn't work in 6th edition. Might actually be a bit more fun with the new line-of-sight rules. Kill Team is another option. Note that "Kill Team" has been the name of a couple different "games". There's the original version which had rules for raiders, guards, scenarios, etc. that I think was in the 3rd or 4th edition rulebook. There's also the version in the "Battle Missions" book which is much more strealined. In The Emperor's Name is a GREAT game and Free! iten-game.org If you get the urge to play a really fast warband-skirmish game in the 40k world, it would be my first choice. The rules-lite system is nothing like 40k though. Something that will be good for some and bad for others. Lastly, if you want 40k universe warband skirmish with a bit more crunch and more GW-ish rules then Inquisimunda uses the free Necromunda rules with added army lists and a few concepts from Inquisitor. It's free here: link I've not played it, but various folks have reported that it's a pretty good option. |

NO LIMITS with individual figures instead of squads
Necromunda, see above. ITEN, see above. and a thousand other options, generally superior than trying to fit a gallon of kool-aid into a 12oz. jar
