Horne wrote three books on the Franco-Prussian conflicts. One on the 1870 War focusing on Fall of Paris and a tome on the France, 1940 campaign. All were good reads and fairly informative.

He really can write well; each of his French oevres on Paris, Verdun, 1940 and Algeria out outstandingly good.

Brilliant book…one of my favourites….I visted Verdun on my honeymoon and spent a few days toruing the battlefield.
I particularly went to visit Driant's grave and his command bunker in the Bois de Caures. All inspired by this gtreat book. I highly recommend it!
