Well, I was really pleased with how well the games went. I would have been more comfortable with the rules if I had run a couple more playtests, but there were no major glitches. (I've had them in playtesting for over a year now). A few more colorful touches and a little brush-up on the graphics, and they should be ready to post on the website. I had absolutely no reservations about the visual presentation, however:
There's a set of photos from my games (titled "Admirals") as well as a few more in the set of pictures from the other games at the con. link Regards, Jeff warartisan.com |

Inspiring as aways Jeff. BTW what was the result of your Hughes v. Suffern game (one of my favorite 18C campaigns). |

Both games ended with both fleets battered, and the British having a slight edge. Of course, since they were one-off convention games, all the players were free to completely ignore my pre-game instructions about not getting their ships shot up too badly since repair facilities were scarce and reinforcements half a world away. Still, they seemed to have enjoyed themselves. |

Brilliant game and very impressive ships Jeff. It's great to see naval wargaming for this period. I'm defiantly going to be get some of these, I've always fancied having a go at Quiberon Bay and the like lots of good games to be had. Are the rules you are doing specifically for this period or will the stretch forward and backward a bit? |
War Artisan | 14 Apr 2013 6:39 a.m. PST |
Ben, Thanks for the kind words. The rules are intended to cover the period from the beginning of the Anglo-Dutch Wars to the end of the Napoleonic Wars; essentially the entire era of large sailing fleet actions, for which they are especially suitable (meaning that they will not be suitable for single ship actions). They were originally designed for the Anglo-Dutch Wars, but there will be special rules that tailor them to each period within the era, reflecting the changes in ship design and tactical thought. |

A friend played in your game at the Con and was quite impressed. He said maybe 6 months before publishing. Can you hurry? We have numbers of 1/2400 SoLs languishing for lack of a good set of rules. Beat to Quarters! |

Shagnasty, I don't hurry, but I don't think it will take 6 months. I'll announce it here when it's posted to the website. Jeff |
