I got me squaddies today.

link

Very nice! The sculpts are quite crisp and clear of flash, a few molding lines but nothing major.. The bases need a good filing but otherwise quite serviceable. I would place them on the same level as GZG's 15 mikes and not too far off from Khurasan's in quality. They're pretty solid too, quite stocky in build, but they aren't too far off from other miniatures so they will mix okay with QRF and GZG. They might be too big to fit nicely with Rebel miniatures though.

I jumped in at the captain level so I got six packs. Four are rifle squads with 10 men: 2 SAWs, 4 riflemen with GLs (?), 4 basic riflemen (two appear to be NCOs). Two men in the squad appear to be carrying LAWs. Two other packs are the same men with berets. Nice figures but their heads appear to be a bit too big.

Still, a nice set of miniatures. I spent 25 quid and got 60 figures… you can't beat that!

Great job Keith!

I'll snap some shots and post them this weekend on my blog.

Tgunner12 Apr 2013 3:53 p.m. PST

Oh, you've got to love the exclusive officer! Quite a proper British officer he is! Complete with a techno monocle and swagger stick I'm sure he'll need it to keep the other ranks in line!

sologamer7012 Apr 2013 4:16 p.m. PST

Hopefully get mine soon then. I went in at Captain level too but with two extra packs.

Looking forward to their arrival, I have plans for them. :)

Eclipsing Binaries12 Apr 2013 6:33 p.m. PST

I got a massive pile of lead from Keith and i am very impressed. I now just need to put the 28mm greeks away and get some 15s back the on workbench.

Muncehead12 Apr 2013 10:59 p.m. PST

Very excited – should get my company soon then.

Armiesarmy13 Apr 2013 3:15 a.m. PST

Thanks tgunner

Ill take some pics so you can compare figures. Size wise they will fit with gzg best, however the beauty of sci fi is that you can add bumph which allows slight adjustments in size. My figures are stockier as its my style, however it also helps with detail and painting. i have had an email from a customer saying they go ok with rebels and he is using both. Some of its taste I guess :)

More and more figures are going out as I have them. The caster is still polling through the list and I'm posting them out as quick as I can. Another 20 went out this morning.

Cheers

Keith

I missed this KS, so I'm excited to see photos and news of general availability.

Tgunner13 Apr 2013 8:41 a.m. PST

Yeah, it's a matter of taste. I'll use Rebel figs in the same games but I probably won't mix them up in squads with the AA troopers.

Hey Keith, do you have any suggestions on interim AFVs to go with them, at least until you get some of your own up and running? I'm looking for a PC or two to support them in some upcoming games. Like a futuristic Warrior or some wheels with a Land Rover vibe.

Armiesarmy13 Apr 2013 9:47 a.m. PST

Hi

A very good question and you have quite alot of great choices out there, more so if I can ever get my own stuff out! I'd suggest critical mass games has some nice new stuff, aintsys hammers slammers, combat wombat have a Brit inspired theme model or two , as do the excellent brigade models. If you can wait A little longer then I'd suggest keeping an eye out on brigade models as they continue to update their vehicle range….

You could go with moderns and add some sci fi parts from gzg or similar, plenty of choices or kit bash your own!

Still waiting.

@TGunner,

Not sure if Warrior looks very British, it is just another IFV. FV432 was just UK M113…

I personally think the the 'open top with lots of guns' motiff is very British on ops…whether it was the LRDG Chevvies, Pink Panthers, WMIK or Coyote and Jackal to me it has a certain Britishness.

doublesix6614 Apr 2013 9:09 a.m. PST

Still waiting for mine as well and I'm in the UK :(

Armiesarmy14 Apr 2013 9:16 a.m. PST

Sorry for the waiting everyone. 20 more packs went out yesterday, Saturday and as I get more castings from the supplier ill post get them out ASAP!

Adam…..

something like this

A concept vehicle Ive been tinkering with recently. The rear is modular and will have some variations.

Keith – that's a nice vibe. The anti mine shaping is nice.

I like that. At first I thought it may need mudguards as it looked strange without them, but I'm kinda thinking it works as it is.

TheRatGod14 Apr 2013 4:29 p.m. PST

would def be interested in a vehicle like that. or variations of it for transport/heavy weapons support.

Adam name not long enough14 Apr 2013 10:36 p.m. PST

Looks like the next generation of FOXHOUND. I think there needs to be a module that has a pintle BIG MG and several smaller MGs –

Which is the fire support version of the FOXHOUND / OCELOT

Adam name not long enough14 Apr 2013 10:38 p.m. PST

And the human top cover is still very much in vogue in the British military (see the normal FOXHOUND with 2 pintlre GPMGs accessed through hatches). The US switch to remote turrets makes an intersting contrast.

And mine arrived this morning – more lead for the pile, but very nice Lead.

Eclipsing Binaries15 Apr 2013 5:00 a.m. PST

Nicely done Colin!

Love the helmet/respirator detail!

Eclipsing Binaries15 Apr 2013 5:23 a.m. PST

That was done with the help of my very last dribble of Devlan Mud. (CURSES AT GW!!! What was wrong with the Devlan mud???!!!)

sologamer7015 Apr 2013 10:04 a.m. PST

Mine arrived today too. Just in from work and they were lying on the floor waiting for me.

I've only had a quick glance but they look damn good.

Eli Arndt15 Apr 2013 11:16 a.m. PST

@Colin-

Strong Tone from Army Painter is a perfect replacement for Devlin Mud.

Apologies to people waiting for figures – not Keith's fault but mine.

Unfortunately a number of projects that were supposed to be more spaced out have collided together and are taking up all my casting time together… plus Salute is on the horizon.

I will be getting Keith figures as fast as I can…

Mike

Eclipsing Binaries15 Apr 2013 1:44 p.m. PST

Thanks Eli.

TheRatGod20 Apr 2013 8:09 p.m. PST

lol black hat minis. i did keiths kickstarter and your french halflings one and now have both. I can see where the timing would suck for all those figs.

Armiesarmy21 Apr 2013 3:03 a.m. PST

And special thanks Lee for the 'rather late' Christmas present I sent on your behalf. The recipient was after your email to contact you. Its people like your good self that makes the effort worthwhile:)

TheRatGod…I hope you paint mine first :)

TheRatGod21 Apr 2013 3:32 a.m. PST

halfway done with the brits, working on basing what ive got done. Only thing from blackhat ive started work on is the kickstarter special char :P

Eclipsing Binaries21 Apr 2013 3:52 a.m. PST

Lee!! THANK YOU!! You got me painting and collectin 15mm scifi again. So much me for finishing the 28mm Spartans and Greeks.

Nearly finished the Power Armoured guys. I really like these guys, and the one with the weird, alien gun is cool. He got a special paint scheme.

Colin

IUsedToBeSomeone22 Apr 2013 3:25 a.m. PST

@TheRatGod

Actually, my Kickstarter is fairly small and manageable – I don't think that Keith or I realised how much casting would be involved for his Kickstarter! And then I had to spend all last week casting for Salute. Add in a couple of large trade orders over the last month and it has been frantic.

I will be back to Keith's stuff this week…

Mike

Earther22 Apr 2013 8:01 a.m. PST

Looking forward to these being on general release!

Armiesarmy22 Apr 2013 1:27 p.m. PST

Should be in about 3 weeks when everything from the kickstarter has been sent, and the dust has settled :)

Ill also have some news on my next set of plans by then.

Cheers
Keith

Muncehead26 Apr 2013 2:01 a.m. PST

Great to hear that Keith. Will almost definitely need a few extras to roud out my company…… and maybe a few more special forces….. and power armour…. and support weapons….

McWong7329 Apr 2013 5:04 p.m. PST

Mine arrived down under today, delays due to my good friends at Australian customs.

Excellent quality on the casting. They share the same bulk of the RUSKS, and are of a similar height to the more recent GZG sculpts, and the likes of Khurasan.

The sculpting is also good, and they'll take paint easily. I'm very impressed with the range of poses, this is as complete a range as you could want.

Now to the painting part…

Armiesarmy30 Apr 2013 5:50 a.m. PST

Cool

glad to see it all arrived ok!
