Hi,

My name is Brian Carnes, and I wanted to take a minute to update my TMP naval/pirate friends about my latest project Sailpower 2.0

Sailpower,as some of you are aware, is a game I started working on back in 2000 and released at conventions in 2005. It is a 15MM scale Age of Sail adventure game system. It is designed to incorporate a fast paced combat system with rules allowing a more open world game experience if desired . . . in other words you could play it as a 15mm beer and pretzels combat game . . . OR you could make the tabletop the sea, place ports about the edges and islands about the "sea," and immerse yourself in to being a captain in the age of sail including port raids, shore parties, island exploration, etc

So what is new for 2.0? The total of included template ships was increased from 39 to over 150. We added rake rules at player's request. We also added new gun types. (light cannons, medium longs, and a wider assortment of shore batteries). The book is now in color with a new layout

we added a lot more faction rules to try including the east India companies, and some of the smaller naval powers. We added improved fort rules with more effective shore battery fire. There is now a full set of port interaction rules including recruiting, merchant trading, and even tavern visits and bar fights! We've included the full treasure hunting system that has been so popular at shows. There's probably a bit more but needless to say it is a substantial update.

On the minis front we are officially releasing the new larger flush 8 sloop, the Bermuda sloop and the 10 gun cutter. These use a simplified build model that i hope to incorporate in my older designs soon.

On a related note I just announced a armed merchant sloop as part of the kick-starter campaign (picks of the unpainted 1rst casting are on the kick-starter update page here link -see update 7)

this guy is slated for an official release on or about Gencon this year.

Also on the radar are four or so 15MM scale wrecks to decorate the sea, and a modular dock set including a dockside tavern.

I'll try to post up some pics of the new docs and wrecks soon …

The official release for this is slated at the Origins Game Fair in downtown Columbus after the Kickstarter campaign wraps, and we have a few big games scheduled as well.

I hope to see some of you at Origins 2013 in June, in the mean time, you can check out my kickstarter @ link

Cheers!

I'd like to see HMS Speedy released eventually, as well as your Quarterdeck Brig too.

Would love to participate in the KS, so please respond to my e-mail inquiry about that. I need assistance to make that happen.

thanks . . .
Brian
