While reading through Vol 1 of Greg Novaks work I found a entry for armed and unarmed highlanders in one of the strength returns. Would anyone care to enlighten me as to what these were? |

With the mix of armed and unarmed I'd guess the Loyalist force at Moore's Creek Bridge. |

Moore's Creek was my first guess, too, but if it's volume one, then it must be the Northern campaigns, so I would guess something in Canada during the American invasion of 1775 – possibly the siege of the fort at St John's, the attack on Montreal, or the siege of Quebec. |

Remember a lot of the Highlanders in the Carolinas were " transportees". Political undesirables, and mightn't be alowed to possess arms. |

If you're talking about the ex-Jacobites, those who had survived the climate would be mainly their 50s and 60s. Not quite what the Crown was looking for. |

They kept transporting undesirable right up 'til the end, so there'd be a few younger sort too. Also, we Celtic types tend to pass on our grudges! |
