For 15mm SF, Victorian, Pulp Egyptian/Alien tombs. Obviously the ones I'm talking about are not meant to be very tall, mostly for interior corridors . . .

Well, these are my options at the moment . . .
Left to right: - Shaker peg cut down to size (30mm tall) - Three bead columns with different beads for capitals. One of them has a brass bell as a capital. - Composite column using part of a mechanical pencil and capped with a grommet (30mm tall) link Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks, Dan TMP link TMP link TMP link TMP link |

Here's another example of how they could be used. This Martian house has a colonnade around it:

Love Jeff's stuff !! I've mention to model producers after posting Jeff's pics and some others that they should make something similar to those. However, they seem only to be interested in the cliche' GW Gothic or Ultra Modern Battletech type structures, etc.
I guess to continually imitiate is a higher form of praise ? So much for originality

Ralph, Believe it or not, in the lower center of your last pic there's a covered vestibule with the same type of columns I mean! Compare with the columns in this scene here:

What components did you use for the bead columns? Those would work great in my Chibi Egyptian Tomb! |

I like the peg, but it will require more paint detailing to make it as visually interesting as the bead options. |

Tonight I'll take a couple of detailed pics to show which specific beads I used with the three in the middle. So please stand by

miniMo and Hamilton, About the three columns in the middle (the bead ones)
From bottom up, this is what they share in common: - Disc shaped plastic beads from Hobby Lobby. Brand "In Bloom", by "Bead Design Co.". Packet comes with 40 in assorted colors for $2.99 USD (I think) - Heavy gauge jump rings, 8mm, from Hobby Lobby. Brand "The Jewelry Shoppe". Packet comes with 30 for $2.99 USD - Synthetic bone beads, 3/4" long, from Hobby Lobby. Brand "Tradition Beads". Packet comes with 10 for $1.47 USD - Again the 8mm heavy gauge jump rings mentioned above. This is where the three differ: - The 9.5mm brass bell top is also from Hobby Lobby. The brand is "Darice". Packet comes with 12 bells for about $1.99 USD - The other two "tulip" tops are lucite beads from ebay, both seen here: auction Hope that helps. Please let me know if you need any additional info. Thanks, Dan PS. I'm still playing with other ideas. |

Guys, Do these columns look familiar?

Haven't found those sorts of synthetic bone beads at my local AC Moores and Michaels. May have to shop online to find them

MiniMo, I'm not familiar with AC Moores but, when you go to Michaels again, check the leather embossing area. Those bone beads are normally with that stuff and not with the other typical beads. Dan PS. If you still can't find them, send me an email: daniel DOT martinez1 AT sbcglobal DOT net (don't forget to add the number one after my last name) |

What do you guys think of this sarcophagus? link Dan PS. This one, however, is simply too creepy: link |

By the way guys, entirely by accident I found something barely related to this subject that you might find interesting. Check out this exotic-looking colonnade at the entrance of Pharaoh Djoser's complex in Saqqara:
link Now check out what's in the background in this movie set ("Land of the Pharaohs", 1955):
link And Djoser seems to have liked that tile look quite a bit. This is one of the doors in the subterranean passages:
